That’s being awfully pessimistic. Going from Week to week to never play a game is quite the leap
Fair enough. Most of my pessimism comes from interactions with Bruins fans after we last played them where all they could say about the guy was that he always did dumb shit that hurt the team on the ice and they couldn't wait to trade him away.

I wouldn't have much issue with the trade if the assets were less, but a 2nd round pick from this year was one of our biggest bargaining chips left after O'Reilly or Savoie. Then they threw in their 2nd best d prospect (right shot even) and a huge winger that's having a breakout season in college.

Another way of looking at this is that this ultimately became

Wanner, Lachance, Broberg and a 4th round pick for a couple weeks of Frederic, an AHL winger and a 5th round prospect that has displayed literally zero offense at the senior level after a few seasons..
I don't know much about Frederic but the prospect cupboard just got a little more barren--glad they didn't trade O'Reilly (at least for now).

Lachance sounded like a good successor to Kane but maybe they couldn't sign him.

So. Still 4 reasaonably valuable assets gone for a guy that might not even play a game for the team, an AHL player and a prospect that has 1 goal in his last 3 seasons? This is a ridiculous overpay.
Which valuable assets? It was a mid to late 2nd round pick and a couple of longshot prospects, what was the 4th one?

Players like this will have their production drop off when there are literally no drivers on the team. I think the multi year track record of good play before the team collapsed this year is a better indicator of what we're getting.

We don’t have drivers on the third line either.

If he could push Henrique to wing that would be nice. But I don’t think skating is his strong suit so he’s probably more of a winger. I don’t mind the players but the team has more pressing holes. We will see what they do.

I am assuming he will play in the regular season and Chris Johnson is looking for clicks.

Frederic is one of the most overrated forwards on HF it feels like and management is overrating him too. That’s an insane amount to spend on a guy who is injured and has played awful this year.

Kind of feel like this means it really is money in money out. Not sure why you'd pay for extra retention on Frederic if that was the case (considering that if they are going into LTIR, they have quite a bit of space).

Bowman probably forgot how LTIR works hence the retentions lol

it's no rumour...its true! I like Fredric, even though he's injured
Lachance has a good chance to make the NHL so that stinks

good bottom 6 add
In what world does Lachance have a good chance to make the NHL? His numbers are underwhelming and his skating is downright terrible at this point.

I think he has an outside chance to be a regular NHLer.
