The Oilers recent record does not have any effect on how bad a team the Maple Leafs are.

Nope. But it certainly should have an effect on its fanbase. I know there has been more than enough Edmonton bashing going on. You would think a fan of a team like Edmonton would have more understanding but alas we get all types around here.

The Edmonton Oilers lasting legacy from a decade of terrible hockey is they were so bad it drove some of their smartest fans to start blogs focused on advanced hockey analytics in an attempt to figure out why their team was so consistently terrible.

I won't speak for all Oilers fans, but a lot of the ones I know are mostly just a jaded group that knows what terrible hockey teams look and act like.

That says more about you than it does Yakupov.

If you say so. Not going to turn this into a crap fest but the Leafs are deep with wingers meaning Yak most likey starts on the 3rd line. From what Edmonton fans have told me, while he works hard he doesn't make smart decisions on defence. Playing under Babcock he would be required to play solid d and when that didn't happen he would be benched or scratched.

So in this unlikely scenario I am trading Corrado, a player that right now can play bottom 6 minutes and a fourth for someone to either hopefully learn how to play defence which he hasn't shown with several coaches that he can do or in the end warm a seat.

Pretty easy no from me. Yak would be better suited to a team that needs wingers and is looking for reclamation projects. Even in that scenario I doubt he returns more than a 2nd round pick. And that would be me being generous.

Lol. Man Leaf fans have being doing that since before numbers were invented. Half of Leaf fans favourite activity is crapping on the Leafs. Lol

Just remember, at least you guys won a cup in the last 50 years

Right, he's a super good player and a real asset to winning. Even Oiler fans who are rational must realize what Yakupov is by now. Eberle is garbage too, but at least he scores. Eventually you'll come to see it my way. I think you wouldn't get anything for either player. You have to assume Chiarelli tried to move them before he moved Hall who is an actual good hockey player.

Again, this says more about you than the player.

I think it shows I'm correct. Everyone outside of Edmonton thinks his value is somewhere between a 2nd round pick and negative value. The results also show that I'm right. So thanks!

To Toronto: Yakupov

To Edmonton: Corrado + 4th.

Oilers get a decent bottom pairing RHD + a pick while the leafs get a nice shot at a reclamation project.

Corrado is not an NHL regular let alone a "decent bottom pairing defensemen."

Do you honestly think that if the Oilers sent a league wide email saying they were looking to move Yakupov this would be the best offer?

To TOR
Yakupov
Ference

To EDM
Corrado
Laich
Conditional pick based on games played for Laich

Edmonton gets a good vet, RHD, and pick. Leafs get a reclamation project and eat Ference's dead money. Perhaps retention could factor in as well. Just an idea.

You obviously never followed hockey until recently. Lupul's time with the Oilers was horror of all horrors... he played like Vince Carter in his final year on the Raptors.

It's more like a cap dump for us. If anything offer a second straight up and dump Lupul somewhere else. It doesn't matter where we dump him tbh

Dreger reported teams were offering a 3rd and the Oilers were turning that down.

So to sum up this thread:

Oiler fans aren't interested in trading Yak for a return of Corrado and a 4th.

The majority of Leaf fans just aren't interested in Yak. (Insert reasons).

Final verdict: No deal.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled team building.
Good luck to both teams in 2016/17.

Let me get this straight, you are an Edmonton fan taking shots at how bad a team Toronto is?

Good to see what 8 years of losing has taught you.
Let me set you straight, I was responding to the poster that called Pouliot a 3rd liner. Good to see Toronto fans haven't let their one playoff appearance in 12 years(or one Stanley Cup in 60 years) get to their heads. Have a good day Dusty

Leafs say no.

Keep your former #1 overall who put up a career high of 33 points
Are you kidding? At this price, what really do we have to lose? I'd take this deal in a second.

Thanks for "straightening" me out there. So I guess the next time an Edmonton fan makes a bad comparison I can jump down their throats about how crap their team is. And I mean if anyone questions that, I guess I could respond by saying "I was talking to them".

As for how the Leafs have gone without a cup, I guess you are used to new fans. I wear that as a badge at this point. Hell I remember watching Edmonton win cups. Do you?
