Come on guys, Shaw has 2 cups. You don't win 2 cups by accident, he is one of the main reasons Chicago won those cups, that's why they traded him, because he's so good that they knew they could get a crazy good return for him. We are lucky to have him for 6 years at a mere $4 million... that's only $40,000 per PIM over ~40 games, that's actually really good value if you think about it. In comparison, Washington is paying about $120,000 per PIM for Eller. Now THAT is bad value, for sure.

Whatever you may think of him, Shaw was a big part of the Hawks Cup-winning teams. He's been a total bonehead since returning, but the Habs need his edge, just a bit more carefully attenuated.

But we gave two top of the 2nd round picks for this year. We received two bottoms of the 2nd round picks for next year and the year after.

The a difference in value that is not negligible.
