As an Oil fan, I’d be curious why the Jets would entertain this? I don’t see how it makes them a better team today, and that should be all they should be concerned with in my opinion. If they’re gonna try and win a cup, this would be the year to try and do it.

I think I would do it as an Oilers fan (other moves would need to be made to be cap compliant), but I’m a fan of both Ehlers and Pionk and only lukewarm on Bouch. He has a great breakout pass/vision and skill, as well as a bomb of a shot, but he takes an equal amount of ill-advised risks and never met a shin pad he could say no to. He also plays with zero ferocity, like every game is the All-Star game.

If Bouch gets north of 8 mil, it will be a regrettable deal.
Welp, someone doesn’t understand the team he watches

No, unfortunately I wasn’t blessed with the expert comprehension you clearly possess. Guess I’ll have to hold out hope they bring back the glowing puck so I can follow the game…. Can’t wait for all those illuminated shin pads Bouch will create.

The brief scouting report you've provided on Bouch isn't entirely wrong. But if you consider trading Bouch and can't see that Bouch (even with his warts) has been that final missing piece (True Number 1 D-man) to make us True Cup Favorites (not just contenders), then yes I question how well you know this Oil team who have been starved for that type of player for a Decade+.

Interesting one, despite me being strongly against trading Ehlers this is not bad if we were forced to
Not sure if Edmonton needs another speedy winger though
We don’t have a winger like Ehlers honestly. He would do wonders for Drai I think.

But Bouchard is off the table IMO. He’s a pretty decent player and is getting more rounded despite occasional mistakes that get attention

This is a crazy one, but its for fun more than anything else.

To Oilers: Neal Pionk
Nic Ehlers

To Jets: Evan Bouchard

The power play in both cities suffers no losses. They are both incredible on it as Ehlers increased role has paid big dividends for the Jets pp. Pionk moderates the loss of Bouchard for the Oilers and Ehlers erases the disappointment of a Jeff Skinner/Arvidsson. A line with mcDavid and Ehlers would have so much speed I can't see many, if any, d pairings able to stop them.

Ehlers may take a discount contract wise if he can play with Edmonton long term. Same goes with Pionk.

Bouchard transforms Winnipeg's defence into above average into high-end. Perfetti and Chibrikov can moderate the loss of offence in the forward group.

Jets have 5 mil in salary cap space making Bouchard re-signable.

This is dependent if next week we learn Ehlers does not want to re-sign with us.

Happy new Year!!

I love the MAY take a discount contract idea. Why?

Evan is a good player, but not what the Jets need imo. Not even addressing the OP values

Sooner have a better two way D or a 2C
