Bash Bros. Line, lets do it.

Funniest part isn't even Vat standing there just to get decked. Happened right in front of Ducks bench and they want nothing to do with it. Killorn with the mean moustache looking around like his lawn sprinkler needs fixing. Wants no part of Kostin. Then they even up the call despite what Ducks announcers crying for.

I love this. Vatrano is the definition of FAFO in this clip. You wanna two hand crosscheck me and then just stand there like an idiot and not protect yourself? Well eat some leather. This is old school hockey where if you did something stupid you had to answer for it and there might be consequences. As a result, a lot of the stupid stuff stopped as guys were too chickenshit to want to answer for it. Guys like Turtle and Ratface would be a hell of a lot less brave than they are now where they can be gigantic f***sticks and never face any consequences.

Love Kostin for this. What a pu$$y Vatrano looks like, pathetic.

Yep. Whole sequence and the ducks announcers is hilarious. They figure Kostin will get a major, officials call it even up minors. "Vatrano didn't get his moneys worth there" lol Killorn there supposedly as a hardnosed grit vet just skates around and pretends not to notice what happened to a team mate. Whole Ducks bench busy waiting for the bus out of town. I saw bits of the game and not sure Ducks even made Kostin answer for it. Not that anybody in their lineup would.

SJ should play Kostin just for the entertainment value. They need to sell tickets after all. He's interesting anyway.

This is great. I hate when players take a shot and expect a scrum / refs so they don’t have to answer the bell.

Only thing better would be Zegras but we know he wouldn't be in there in that. haha

Vatrano must have grown up in a sheltered neighborhood or something. "Hey, he punched me, how's this allowed, somebody do something" Officials: "Its hockey, wake the f*** up. "

Parents didn't sign him up for this. heh Shocked that Vatrano is 30 actually and with being in pro hockey for a longwhile you figure he'd be up to speed. Nope. Chin a dope, it isn't a thing.

Kostin makes sense for multiple reasons. We probably have to lose Evander Kane after this season because we need cap space, having his replacement ready to go with Kostin, who is younger, would be good forward planning as well, but if you wanted to really bully an opponent in the playoffs, having all three of Podz, Kostin, and Kane in on top of having Nurse on the back end could in a 7 game series intimidate an opponent and wear them down for sure.

It doesn't have to cut into the D budget, if he's effectively coming in retained at 1 mill it just means you demote someone off the forward roster to bring him on.

If he plays well here (for whatever reason I think he just likes the atmosphere/media of the Edmonton market, while some players wilt he seems to enjoy it), then basically you've acquired a 1st round pick back, you can at least look at it that way, since we've done f*** all (especially at forward) to have success in drafting it would be nice if Kostin-Podz developed here with Holloway, McLeod, etc. gone and guys like Yamamoto busting.

The tricky part will be just paying a 3rd team to retain on him, that should be easier done the deeper you get into the season, since SJ cannot retain.

As a 20 year old in 2021/22 Podkolzin scored 14 goals in 79 games with the Canucks.
Since then he has played 69 NHL games and has 4 goals.

Rather odd that his goal scoring just dropped off completely and his TOI didnt change all that much until year 3 with the Canucks. He did get 2 PP goals in 2021/22 but even still he hasnt done much at 5x5 since.

I like Podz skating/checking better than Kostin’s tbh.

He can really hunt the puck - maybe it fades but this kid can really get around and grind in the corners.

what he hasn’t shown that Kostin did is a shot or some offensive flair - but I’m okay with that

Kostin has shown many times with different teams that he is a slacker and is a healthy scratch for a lot of games with various teams. He's shown he has no loyalty as he chased the money out of here. After another disappointing year last year, has managed to get himself into 7 games this year with the worst team in the league and produced nothing but zeros. A big no thanks.

He's shown he can play well here and seems to for whatever reason likes the Edmonton media/atmosphere, some players just like being in a hockey market I guess. Him being here in the playoffs with his Oilers jersey clearly shows he likes it here.

He took more money because he would be stupid not to, an extra $600k/year for 2 years is life changing for a person who hasn't made a lot of money in their life. A lot of people don't make 1.2 million USD in their life, for someone from Russia that's a fortune. It's not his fault Ken Holland overpaid Darnell Nurse by 2+ million and blew 5 million in cap on Jack Campbell and couldn't afford to match a fairly low offer.

People also said Evander Kane was a locker room poison who would giving up on teams, whereas here he's been largely a good team player and the main knock would be injuries which aren't his fault.

Ryan McLeod was "loyal" to the Oilers and how'd they return that favor? They dumped him to one of the worst teams in the league in Buffalo after cornering him to take less on his RFA deal a couple of years ago. No loyalty whatsoever. A player has to look after themselves.
