Dermott would likely make Edmonton better as our 3rd pair isn't very awesome. What we really need is our young guys to be ready though. We need cheap upgrades back there, not just upgrades.

Mrazek won’t be traded this season. Dubas said himself that he will access the goaltending in the summer.

You obviously havent watched ceci play this year. If you control cecis minutes then hes a great dman. Its when you give him 20mins+ on a consistent basis that he falls apart. Hes on a good contract. Might as well get luke schenn for a 3rd rnd to play bottom 6 with ceci.

The 3rd round pick is conditional, turns into a 2nd round pick assuming they meet the condition. It has to be next year's 2nd not this year's 2nd round pick.

But that's not happening either.

Kris Russell can slot into the lineup until Keith is healthy to play. Keith is probably out for a while but they could recall Niemelainen or Broberg from Bakersfield instead of throwing away assets for a temp injury replacement. Edmonton's not interested in Mrazek, he's injury prone.

Well being top 3 in Edmonton isn't exactly an accomplishment. Barrie, Nurse and Bouchard are good offensively but can't defend at all.

As someone who watches both teams, Ceci and Keith are better than Dermott.
This boils down to c(r)ap for c(r)ap with Puljujarvi and Mrazek slipped in there, makes little sense for either team.

If Dermott is actually good, young, and can play both sides, then why the hell wouldn't they keep him and move an older more expensive guy?

Guy is a dime a dozen, 3rd pairing, excell at nothing dman. Nobody is giving value for dermott, stop trying to make it happen.

The assets you could get for Puljujarvi if you couldn't resign him are more than you could get for Mrazek. You could move Puljujarvi and spend picks on Mrazek if you wanted to. All that is moot because Edmonton will move other players to keep Puljujarvi.

On the other side, why does Toronto move their back up in season when they need to rest Campbell down the stretch.

Like I said neither team does this.
