Haha wow, they got an ECHLer for him. I knew his value was low, but jeez. :biglaugh:

"Trading Yakupov for a third would be stupid......we can get so much more when he bounces back."Oilers fans trade threads circa 2016

Good idea to trade Yakupov for nothing and then spend the savings on a guy who's only talent is getting hit with pucks IMO.

If that's the return then why didn't they just play him for 10ish games like they did last season with McDavid where he was a PPG? Guarantee that would've netted a more solid result. Or just play him for a bit period, his value is so low that not worth trading for that at all so it could only have gone up.

Chiarelli's terrible at asset mgmt isn't he? I know hindsight and all but imagine if he'd tried to move Yakupov for Reinhart instead of the pick that turned out to be Barzal at the draft before.

If Yakupov scores 10 goals for us then I'm happy. I could see him being more useful than Jaskin, and hopefully Tarasenko can teach him some tricks.

So. Conditional pick and an ECHL player for Yak?

I knew his value was low but damn the oilers got killed

Yak still has potential I think he needed this Edmonton is toxic I mean the city is great but that team has a toxic culture right now

That doesn't mean it was the wrong play. There was a chance Yak would've figured it out. It was a low-risk, high-reward play. The same play STL is making here (even lower risk for them).

So his value was a third rounder after all, like most Oiler fans guessed. Now we get to watch all the posters who have said Yak has negative value act like the Oilers got fleeced.

Pretty much this. Everyone and their dog thinks Yakupov is garbage, but now we'll get to hear all about how terrible Chiarelli, and the Oilers are.
