Considering Trouba doesn't want to play in a Canadian city, trading anything to the Jets for the privilege of struggling to get Trouba signed sounds counter-intuitive.

Suggestion: Stop including the Oilers in Trouba trade proposals.

Is it really definite that Trouba doesn't want to play in a Canadian Market, Or is it still just mere speculation. Because if it's true that he doesn't want to play in Canada and only possibly on the east coast or maybe Arizona. One would tend to think that it would diminish his value some what.

I wouldn't mind Franson if the price is a late pick and a LHD prospect like Musil.

He's under 30 and in a contract year,, wouldn't surprise me if he had a pretty good season. I wouldn't mind him and Fayne splitting 36-38 minutes a night on the right side behind Larsson with Franson getting the PP and offensive zone push and Fayne handling the defensive assignments.

The "Trouba doesn't want to play in Canada" rumor is at the same stage that the "Trouba has requested a trade" rumor was at over the summer.

As an Oilers fan, I wouldn't touch a Trouba trade with a ten foot pole. We have enough problems, we don't need to pay out the nose to import other teams problems as well.

Anton Lander
2018 3rd Round Pick

Buffalo
Cody Franson

-Gives some cap space for Buffalo, Oilers can give Franson a shot on the PP.

Edmonton
Brandon Davidson
Mark Fayne (50% Retained)
2017 1st round pick
Caleb Jones

Winnipeg
Rights to Jacob Trouba
+Contract (either a cap dump or prospect)

-Oilers set up their d-core long-term
-Trouba gets a cheap LHD that played like a top 4 dman. Fayne can act as a shutdown RHD behind Buff and Myers. Get a 1st rounder that should net them a solid prospect. Caleb Jones is one of the Oilers more promising prospects, but could be switched for Oesterle (if the Jets want a player who's closer to NHL ready)
-Reinhart could be involved instead of Davidson too, but Davidson is by far the better player and cheaper as well.
-Fayne could be removed too, but then WPG wouldn't send a contract back.

Signings
Eric Gryba 2 years at $1,000,000
Jacob Trouba (7 years at $5,250,000 )

Edmonton's Defence

Klefbom-Larsson
Sekera-Trouba
Nurse-Franson
Reinhart/Gryba

Forwards
Lucic-McDavid-Eberle
Pouliot-Nuge-Yakupov
Maroon-Draisaitl-Versteeg (until Puljujarvi gets called up)
Hendricks-Letestu-Kassian
Pakarinen

Talbot/Gustafsson

Then the cap smacks you in the face . It may work if Draisaitl and McDavid don't hit any bonuses

I like Wings classy fans . So I hope he goes to the Wings at a good price and becomes a number 1D . But as an Oiler fan I would have to cheer against you if we ever met in the finals

I think Kevin Klein could be traded at the deadline this season

What would Edmonton offer? He would slot in nicely on their second pairing

Would love to bring Trouba home to Detroit, Supposedly over the summer Holland asked about him and Cheveldayoff wanted 2 of our top prospects would assume Larkin and one of either Mantha/AA Pretty sure it ended right there. From the sound of things so who know's what he would want now.

Fair enough i like Oiler fans as well they're pretty classy themselves i love toying with them from time to time. And as a Red Wings fan i would do the very same thing rooting against them. We just love our teams to much.

Even if the Oilers trade a nice piece for Trouba, that means they'll have to expose Klefbom in the expansion draft. Either way you look at it, acquiring Trouba means losing Klefbom and that is a definite non-starter for the Oilers.

There is ZERO chance Klefbom will be exposed in the Expansion Draft. Zero. They would go 8 + 1 if need be.

As far as the OP goes... I want no part of Schultz 2.0 (Franson). Trouba I would love to see on the Oilers but (a) it sounds like the Jets are not looking for quantity for quality deal. There are some very good pieces being offered in Davidson, 2017 1st and Jones but as of today, none have the ceiling of Trouba. With Trouba the 2017 1st is likely a mid 1st. (b) with all of the interest it's likely that the Jets will be able to acquire a LHD with an equal current value of Trouba or a prospect with a more likely equal ceiling as JT + other pieces.

That's good because I would want Klefbom for Trouba.

Not likely. Not because Klefbom is a better player, but because he's on a 4.1m long term deal that Trouba isnt going to sign. Klefbom and Larsson on those contracts are staying in Edmonton.

No it doesn't . Why make things up .

Oilers would protect

Lucic
Eberle
Draisaitl
RNH

Klefbom
Larsson
Trouba
Sekera

Talbot

Notable exposed players would be

Maroon
Yakupov
Pouliot
Davidson
Versteeg if he is signed longer then a year

McDavid and Puljujarvi are exempt . Got to remember we can only lose one player . So a loss of one of the above players isn't that bad
