-Trouba gets a cheap LHD that played like a top 4 dman. Fayne can act as a shutdown RHD behind Buff and Myers. Get a 1st rounder that should net them a solid prospect. Caleb Jones is one of the Oilers more promising prospects, but could be switched for Oesterle (if the Jets want a player who's closer to NHL ready)
-Reinhart could be involved instead of Davidson too, but Davidson is by far the better player and cheaper as well.
-Fayne could be removed too, but then WPG wouldn't send a contract back.

you are trying to fix the least important issue of Defence.

Finding Dmen that
1.do not Abondon the HSCA by trying to skate the puckup offensively, resulting in awful GA team numbers
2. read and transition pass with the best of them.

Davidson is one of the 5 Defensive anchor Dmen last year.
Larsson was best in the game last 2 years.
that is why PC traded for him.

I'm perfectly content beginning the year with our current D.

Klefbom-Larsson will be a solid top pair.

Sekera is a legit 3. Fayne - while I'm not a big fan of - seemed to work well with Sekera. Depending on how Fayne performs, that could be a solid 2nd pair.

Nurse-Davidson supposedly looked pretty good in their first pre-season game paired together. If it continues, they could be a strong bottom pair.

I do want to upgrade our D, but the Jets proposal would never be accepted on their end, and I honesty wouldn't do that deal either between Trouba's contract demands/cost to acquire vs where I think Davidson's game could grow to.

As I said, I don't think it matters, because it doesn't sound like the Oilers are very excited by Trouba being available.

We could use a new D, but moreso just one with a great point shot who can help our PP. Ideally that player would be a right shot, but the need for the player to be that is less now that we have Larsson. If a good option for our PP like Streit became available, he'd still be worth getting even though he's LHD. We have several LHD who play the right side. It's not a huge deal.

Oilers wouldn't give up Klefbom for Trouba, Davidson+ is a better bet IMO but even then am happy to keep Davidson to see what we have in him. He was VERY good last season, more or less proving he can be a top four D. If he can grow his game further and get his shot going we could have something good in him. And Sekera has proven in the WC that he can play RD.

Yeh.. you doubt Oilers would get Trouba for someone already better, cheaper, bigger and without baggage. Oilers have 0 reasons to trade Klefbom.
Even with Larsson and Sekera he is Oilers top Dman.
I guess Trouba will cost Larkin+

Davidson on the other hand doesnt hold that high a trade value and would be considered a throw in for a Trouba deal.
