Attard might compete with Brown, Kemp and Wanner on the right side for an AHL spot.

How many righties do we need? Wanner needs ice to grow as a player and Kemp I guess is a guy that we have no plans for going forward. Brown has 2 more seasons after this one so if we see him as an AHLer he'll be here for at least 2 more seasons.

I hope Attard turns out great, but I liked Ben Gleason each of the last two camps and wanted to see him get a shot. Being that I know nothing about Attard, dont love it on the surface.. but who knows, maybe he’s a Righthanded Gleason.

I think he’s better and I think his game / size has a better chance to stick in the NHL. Just my opinion though.

Dineen and Hoefenmeyer are solid AHL lefties, so they aren't in bad shape there.

I think they'd rather be sitting a guy like Kemp than Dineen, so it works out.

Kemp kind of seems like an ideal guy to trade for an equal forward now.

That's one thing that really pissed me off when we moved Kesselring out. He looked good in camps and then went down and had a very good start to his AHL season and he never got a sniff.

There's more than player for player here. Playing Gleason meant they had to sit another veteran. Not the case for Attard.

Attard was also the better player last year, so it's not like it's some lopsided swap.
