Barrie's main job is on the powerplay and he's dynamite there. Just sayin'.
Our coach with trust issues isn’t going to deploy anyone else aside from Chabot on our powerplay, and our second unit is mostly in shambles and I don’t think Barrie is the glue that can put the pieces back together.
Your powerplay is much better with Barrie on it. Bouchard isn’t quite ready yet and watching Nurse on the powerplay makes me want to scratch my eyes out.
I don’t see Barrie beating out Chabot or taking any minutes away from him, I don’t want Barrie taking minutes away from Sanderson and Holden has been good on the third pair in a way that I don’t think Barrie could be.
Barrie - Zub could be an effective pair though, would be interested in how they fare. But not quite interested enough to trade from a position of need (RW, veteran, all-situations player, cheap) for an area of potential strength and logjam.
Only 2YR remaining on the contract, but with Sanderson, Brannstrom and Kleven I think we’ll stay pat at LD.
Not to derail the thread, but I wonder how both sides would feel about a Yamamoto and Brannstrom swap?
*edit* Nvm you guys have more of a logjam at LD than we do.
TLDR; Barrie is a good player, and maybe even great player in terms of fit for Edmonton. For Ottawa, not so much, especially at the expense of a 28 year old with an extra year on a palatable contract on pace to score 60 points on a bottom-feeder team.
