Ha, I remember back in 2022-23, Hoefenmayer was putting up huge AHL numbers in the first half of the year and us Leafs prospect watchers started to just assume he'd be getting an NHL contract soon.

Looking back, he had 25 points in 27 games at end of 2022. I recall seeing him in one game and being surprised at how anonymous he was despite those numbers (could see he had a bomb of a shot at least). He then 'limped' to only 13 points in his remaining 38 games and the NHL contract talk died down fast... Wasn't surprised that the Oilers still took a flyer on him, and good for him carving out an AHL career at least!

Hoefenmayer did look pretty good when I saw him play with the Marlies.
