To EDM:

MTL 2022 2nd (33rd)
EDM 2022 2nd (Between 62 and 65 depending on where we finish)

To MTL:

EDM 2022 1st (Between 29 and 32 depending on where we finish)

I figure with the draft in MTL, they'd want another 1st rounder on the 1st day, we move down a couple spots (again, depending on where we finish in the playoffs) and get our 2nd back as well, which is a late one. MTL would still have 13 picks total and it allows us to regain a pick.

eh I would rather move 26+33+62-65 for canucks 15th pick. Not sure how canuck fans feel about it though. As for your trade OP meh I would rather have the extra pick.

Montreal
I move up to the 17 range and draft Connor Geekie.
I then tell him to work on skating with skating coach, strenght coach and skills coach over this summer .
Return him back to junior.
Work some more his skating over the year and again full on next summer.

He will then be ready for 3rd line C duties in 2 years.

Suzuki
Wright
Geekie
Evans

Bye bye Poehling!

It's really not. These trades happen all the time.
Cost isn't usually that high to move up three spots. Would make more sense if it were the ducks third rounder and there was someone our management really wanted.

It's really not. These trades happen all the time.

Moving up 1-3 spots at the very end of the first round does not cost a 2nd round pick, or even a 3rd round pick.

See here to get a rough idea:

You'd be looking at a 6th or 7th pick.

e: looking at past actual trades that have happened in that area of the draft I'd say a 4th round pick is probably the better target.

It’s strange in the sense that there’s really no point speculating and comparing value without even knowing how the rest of the round has played out.

If by some miracle Filip Mesar slips to 29, the return for Edmonton’s pick would be much greater, they probably wouldn’t even trade the pick.

Ottawa recently sent 44 and 83 for 37 so I think in a vacuum 33 and 63 for 29 probably isn’t far off, but I do think Montreal should make other moves. Following in Ottawa’s trade footsteps probably isn’t the best idea either.

Lol that's awful for Montreal. Paying a 2nd to move up potentially one spot there? Yikes.

If the Oil are trading their 1st, it should be attached to Kassian to clear space to re-sign Kane. A team like Seattle seems the best landing spot if that’s the case (need to build their prospect pool and could use some team toughness).
