But you don't cheer for "cup runs", you cheer for the Los Angeles Kings. So again, I state: 3-0. I know it burns you so badly that you need to deflect by making this about something else, but them's the facts.

Uhmmm...

Too funny.

You can "state" what you like, as I recall I brought up the 0-3 and you decided what it was in reference to lol, silly boi

For LA, I suggest that damn statue be torn down until further notice. But I agree with the statue part Exactly!! We're missing Blake, but also we need to tank though to land said Elite players which we're too dumb to do, unlike the Oil that figured this out from the get go, good for you!

the best way to W, is to be terrible for a decade, see Oilers as a refer...freak, i keep forgetting the cup wins are still in imaginary status

I think the Oilers might be eyeing a Hoffman-Henrique-Brown 3rd line.

Which would have been a great 2nd line 3-5 years ago.

Hoffman really doesn’t do anything except shoot.

Not really a defensive or energy line guy.

2nd PP unit specialist maybe.

Anyway, the amount of discussion around PTOs is amusing but there’s not much else going on.

I'm just going to keep repeating it: 3-0.

This entire exchange makes sense if you only started following hockey in 2012 or thereabouts.

Now I’m getting ahead of the situation, but if he isn’t a defensive liability we can use shooters in this club

Well he is.

He lives for the offensive circle shooting opportunity and that’s it.

The closest guy I can think of to that these days is Kubalik. A floater with a shot.

If he wasn’t a defensive liability he wouldn’t be a PTO.

oh boy i sure hope not, if that's how you guys measure success no wonder you guys are 0 and 3

better not use the LA Kings as a measuring stick for succcessss! but then again, sure why not :thumbu:
The only measuring stick from Kings/Oilers post season hockey is Kings management propagating the myth of them being close by losing to contenders. Giving BLuc even more time to permanently damage the franchises future. Otherwise it's just playoff preseason at this point.

I couldn’t tell you. I just know that this isn’t the guy that’s going to get the Oilers over the hump. The extra offence was already acquired in Arvidsson and Skinner.
What about the 15 guys WSH signed or 10 that are going to PHI?
Everyone wants this player from 3 yrs ago but this player 3 yrs ago wouldn't have been signing a PTO.

He doesn't need to be the piece that puts Oilers over the top.

Why are you so butt hurt?

Oh ya because the oilers with all their PTO players keep knocking the Kings out of the playoffs.

Moving on…
He had a comment on here where he said he was “baiting everyone” but I don’t see it anymore. So there’s your answer. Ignore him and move on.

Huge philosophy change under Jackson. Been wanting shooters on this team for years, and now we've maybe over corrected and added too many. Oh well, not excepting much from Hoffman, did always feel he'd be an Oiler one day.

People need to remember that a PTO isn’t a contract, it’s more or less an opportunity to see if they can still play at the NHL level. These PTOs are not bound to the team, they are still free to sign with all 32 teams if they have a good showing.

This is HF and life in general. People cannot control their ego's. This is a PTO

Let me repeat. THIS IS A PTO. A former good scoring forward on a team with 2 guys who prop lots of guys up. Probably don't want to play lots of pre season games

He is a place filler ffs lol. Maybe some bottom team takes him if he shows up great. That's it.

Does Hoffman still have his speed and shot?

He plays well with fast possession centres who can do all the dirty work and draw in the defense for him to finish. Hoffman knows how to find space, he just isn't going to drive offense.

Keep in mind, that scouting report is 10 years old.

Lots of players who get a PTO aren't NHL quality anymore. But Hoffman isn't PTO quality anymore.

Even just to fill a sweater and meet the vet requirement for preseason, I think there's better options than Hoffman.
