Dickinson is significantly better. But McCarron is one of the worst contracts in the league so his contract hardly justifies this one.

For starters, $4 million a year is already a high salary for what Dickinson brings. So if the 5 years is used to "bring the AAV down" then I shudder to think what Bowman would have paid him on a 2 or 3 year deal.

Dickinson is a 4th line forward. And honestly he's not even a high end one. You don't need to be paying a player like that $4 million per year for 5 years when you can get a veteran like that for half the price and half the term.

Dickenson is crap. Wouldn't sign him even for league minimum. He will be on a decline soon since he is 31 and even his peak was nothing much to write home about. I guess Edmonton signed him out of desperation which always ends up being the wrong move.

They lost Broberg and Holloway for nothing and now need to sign washed up 4th liners to fill in the void. Not matching Blues offer sheet was the stupidest move.

That's a lot...but he's not a bad player. In the right role, he's actually very useful.

McLeod wasn't progressing in Edmonton. He looked like a floater in the playoffs too. I believe he needed the trade to a team where he would get top six ice time to flourish. He was never going to get that in Edmonton.

McLeod just got absolutely torched in the playoffs again. He’s not a good player in the post season.
