Who's complaining about the trade? I'm a Pulju fan and i LOVE the trade. We got an absolute BEAST in Ekholm because we traded away Pulju's cap. We won this trade by a GALACTIC MILE. I still think Pulju could have a good career and even be a fixture in a top 6 on some team BUT he NEEDS to work on his faults, and as much as i love the kid and his goofiness he's not working on what he needs to. Everyone around him said he's an absolute gym freak. Well sometimes working out non-stop is a detriment to the player. Look at Broberg for example. He apparently bulked up over the offseason and put on a bunch of muscle and looks slower because of it. If all Pulju does in the offseason is workout in the gym then he's not working on what he needs to. Part of me wonders if his agent just keeps telling him that he's perfect in every way and doesn't have to work on the shit he needs to work on. His agent seems like the type of person that would do that. Anyways like i said this trade is nothing but a win and the ONLY way we lose this trade is if we don't win a cup this year and Ekholm suffers a career ending injury of some sort and Pulju starts scoring 80+ points a season.

When I spoke to one of the Oilers media heads this past winter, that's what he alluded to. And that JP was pretty stubborn about the 'being a scorer in NHL' mindset. Lehto feeding him shit and him still wanting to be that 'scorer' when he's just not good enough is hurting him more than helping. I guess he's still young and can potentially carve out a niche role in the bottom 6 but that'll depend on him having an epiphany.

Agreed. Lehto honestly is a cancer for him and his career. Dude seems like the kind of guy that would try to cut your arm off and sell it back to you. Wouldn't surprise me if he's in JP's ear telling him that everything is fine and it's everyone else's fault. Are the Oilers free of any blame on Pulju having the type of career he's having? Nope they're not. I think they made some mistakes with him and let him and his agent (More so his agent i think because he seems like he's a control freak) dictate what happened too much bu they're also not solely to blame. It got to the point where blame solely shifted to JP and his agent. JP needs to change his agent and start working on his faults. Get a skating coach, get a shooting coach and stop going to the gym so much. Show up in shape but stop going to the gym like you're a damn cross fit "pro" and start working on your on ice abilities. He's 100% shown flashes that he can be a top 6 player but he's so inconsistent that he probably never will be. He just never works on the skills that he needs to and like i said not only is that on him but i think his agent is a big part of that by barking in his ear that he doesn't need to improve and that he's fine the way he is. If i was JP (and i get he's young and was immature when he broke into the league) i would've fired Lehto a LONG LONG time ago.

I doubt Carolina offers him a contract after this audition. The question is, who out there will give him another chance? Arizona? Columbus? Montreal?

Seems kind of dumb to give up on an NHL career before even trying to make it
Not every player wants to play in the NHL. Some of them are happy where they are with stuff and people around them that they know.

I do have to say though that I would defo go for it.

No surprise there, less and less minutes 0 points in 8 games. He's not very good and is no longer getting gifted minutes with the best player in the world.
It baffles me that any argument can be made the Oilers org. didn't give this player a helluva chance to play & succeed in the NHL. Even now he has an outstanding chance to become a regular NHL player. Imagine what some guys in the AHL would give to get the kind of opportunities this player has already had.

His contract was a "prove it" one and he has ultimately failed, even playing with the best players on the planet. If anyone takes him he'll have to work on his weaknesses, fire his agent and accept the fact that if he's REALLY lucky, he might be a bottom 6 player.
