Yotes would need to add more, but the proposal does make some sense. Oilers fans do have to be prepared for the pulijarvi raise. Him getting 5 mill if he keeps this up is not out of question so the goaltender for 2022 needs to be fairly underpriced.

Barrie is going to be dumped in the summer, so I wouldn't count on the Oilers roster being the same when it comes to sign Puljujarvi.

It's fairly obvious you cannot go cheap on goaltending again.

If Arizona GM called Holland then maybe... but I don't see Holland as the type to seek out a goalie like this. He probably has never heard of him. He will likely set his eyes on someone like Varlamov. This is the same guy that watched his old team pick up Ned for peanuts.

His career high in a season is 118. That just seems really low to me for a guy who is expected to be an offensive player.

Schmaltz is much more of a playmaker than a sniper. He's not a MSL type, but he does vastly prefer to pass rather than shoot.

Holtby seems like the best bet as he wouldn’t cost much in assets to acquire, his salary is low enough and he’s not unproven like some of the other names being tossed around. Dallas likely will be/should be selling at the deadline.

If edmonton would ever consider this trade they should fire everyone on the staff. without doing this firing tipett would be enough, seems like the real issue tbh

What is Puljujarvi's next contract is going to look like? Some fans seem to think he's going to give the Oilers another heavy discount, but I don't think that's likely considering his production, the fact that he already took a bridge deal, and that he's got arbitration rights. What's a good comp?

I don't get the feeling that Vejmelka or Korpisalo are on the Oilers radar, haven't heard much chatter about the two of them here, but I have heard chatter about guys like Georgiev and even Carey Price and Charlie Lindgren so who knows? :dunno:
how is Lindgren a more known commodity than Vemelka?

Tanner Pearson put up 44pts in 80 GP in 2017 as a 23YO winger and signed a 4yr @ $3.75M per year FIVE YEARS AGO.

Tyler Bertuzzi put 48pts in 71GP as a 23YO, and he got a 1yr @ $3.5M bridge 2 Years ago. After an injury shortened last year of 7pts in 9GP, he got another 2yr @ $4.75M extension that takes him to UFA.

Jake Debrusk put up 35pts in 65GP as a 23YO and got a 2yr @ $3.65M bridge deal almost 2 Years ago.

JT Compher put up 32pts in 66GP as a 23YO and got a 4yr @ $3.5M that takes him to UFA 3 Years ago.

Conor Garland put up 39pts in 49GP as a 24YO and got a 5yr @ $4.95M that takes him to UFA last year.

Reilly Smith put up 40 in 81GP as a 23YO and got a 2yr @ $3.425M signed SEVEN YEARS AGO.

Jaden Schwartz put up 22 in 33GP as a 23YO (after putting up 63pts in 75GP as a 22YO) and got a 5yr @ $5.5M SIX YEARS AGO.

Travis Konecny put up 49pts in 82GP as a 22YO and got a 6yr @ %5.5M signed 3 Years ago.

Nikita Kucherov put up 66pts in 77GP as a 23YO and got a 3yr @ $4.76M signed SIX YEARS AGO.

Puljujarvi is on pace for 57pts in 77GP as a 23YO.

Most of these guys did not have arbitration rights at the time of their negotiations like JP and none of them were as highly drafted.

During the Rangers intermission report last night Valiquette had an interesting stat for Vejmelka. Our of 103 goalies that have played this year he ranks 99th when screened.

Food for thought.

Sounds like AZ will soon begin extension talks with Vejmelka based on last night's comments on HNIC
