He was very physical this game. He made good passes. Almost scored. He did everything they could of asked him playing on his off wing and with a linemate he's never played with. He was aggressive. He did fine.

He's not Smitty. Two totally different players. It's going to stand out. But for stepping in? He did fine. And I was very surprised at his physical side tonight.

Agreed. Surprised some folk down on Debrusk. Thought he had a good game.

The absence of puck luck in the B's favor was made clear when the puck hit Ritchie on the shot from up high and went directly horizontal across the crease. Many times the Goalie will back into the crease when losing sight of the puck but Varlamov never moved. Had he done that the puck had a chance of bouncing off him into the net. But not to be.
Game was eerily similar to Gm2 in 2019 Finals when the Blues seemed to turn the tide with OT win. The Isles may not have the same talent but they will not lose for lack of effort. Game 3 is statement time.

Tough loss, brings back bad memories of last year's game 2 loss in OT to TB after we won game 1. Instead of having a strangle hold in this series now we are tied up. Getting really tired of giving up fluky/unlucky goals and getting less power-plays then the opposition. I love this sport but it can be so frustrating because their is far more luck involved then the other major sports and the officiating is more often then not crappy. Here's hoping we start catching a few breaks going forward and maybe just maybe get more PP's then Komarov and the Islanders.

Ritchie continues to underwhelm...When Smith comes back you have to consider inserting Fred or stick with Kuhlman. Kuhlman was driving the net consistently last night something Ritchie hasn't tried once this playoffs.

So the eye test:

Team played well.
deflected shot and OT goal was a lucky bounce off a skate to a breaking czikas. I don't get mad.
Id like to see Kuraly sat and throw in Freddy
Lauzon still young. I think he has a great future. He just has to settle down a bit.
Jake D is engaged I like it.

I think some of you are selling the Islanders a bit short here. They played a very tough and well organized road game, and were the better team through a lot of the OT. They're also tremendously physical.

The moment that really stood out to me was when our 1st line was hemmed in for what felt like forever. That was when I knew this might go 7.

My main issue is with how our goals are scored, vs theirs. They prove that getting pucks on net works. All these tips and bounces we've seen from Washington and now the Isles, it's not just dumb luck. It's the result of guys knowing how to get pucks on net.

I wish our D could find the net a bit more than they do sometimes. Growing up as a kid watching the Bruins I have so many memories of greasy goals in the playoffs making all the difference. It's surprising how little we see of that from this team. At the end they don't count how, they count how many.

I agree, but in fairness Lauzon has been on the ice for 5 goals allowed in his last 50 minutes of 5 on 5 play. Might be time to give him some more shifts with McAvoy to get more help?
I agree. I'm not saying he's perfect. But he's still a kid with less than a full NHL season worth of games under his belt. The effort is undoubtedly there and he's fought back through injuries.

People around here last night calling him an AHL player or that he needs to shuffle off to the Kraken and whatever are out of line in my opinion.

There's a lot of people here who were absolutely slaying him last night that would be first in line to give my a reach around if he'd scored the game winner. 5 GA in his last 50 mins of 5v5 or not. And we all KNOW that's the truth.

We've played 7 games and been shorthanded 27 times, the Islanders have played 8 games and been shorthanded 16 times, but it doesn't seem they're playing some super disciplined brand of hockey. Is it a respect thing that Trotz has between the refs or what's going on here? These guys have only taken more than 2 penalties one single time these playoffs, that's an absurd stat to me.

The boys will be fine. A bit of adversity never hurt. Besides, this series wasnt going to be a cakewalk at all. That Isles team arent slouches. Bounce back in store folks.
Yeah , Bruins had won 5 in a row and were due for a game where they didn’t get the bounces . I don’t care about the crowd in New York , home ice is irrelevant. Bruins will get one game in New York . I expect the series to be tied after 4 games and then we shall see. The extra day of rest certainly helps after a game like that .
