Series Talk: ECSFs Discussion - All The Smoke Edition - Panthers vs. Leafs

You’re giving the edge to Panthers without having to bring up Barkov.

I did, top three Leafs vs. top three Panthers. Matthews, Nylander, Marner vs. Barkov, Reino, Tkachuk. Objectively, the Leafs trio brings more offense while Panthers trio brings more defense and its arguable which trio is better.

I would take our three any day, every day, and obviously the last time we met in the playoffs our guys neutralized theirs very effectively. But the difference between the top three is not as wide as the next tier below where our high-end depth is lights out better.

The Leafs are for sure better this year but our guys are proven and tested and had gone all the way, so until the Leafs prove they can hang in 7 games with the Panthers and take the series I wont stop being confident in our guys, before Tampa i wasnt feeling too optimisic due to how shitty March and April was but I can see them getting better as the playoffs go.

Our group have nothing to prove at this point, winning back to back cups maybe? not necessary but it would be nice, Leafs fans dont rattle me, theres more pressure on the Leafs to perform with that expensive ass forward group that hasnt won shit. We are doing just fine win or lose lol

This is the series that will cement Brad Marchand into Florida Panthers history. In the first round, he participated and performed exceptionally but the intensity of the rivalry was embedded prior to his arrival. Now however, he has a shared, vested interest in pounding, maybe even humiliating, this opponent. For this series, Brad Marchand will be upfront in the cockpit, pushing with equal ferocity AS A PANTHER. He has the opportunity to achieve something exceptional.

With a series win, he will be despised by Toronto fans as a member of two different teams (how glorious). Red number 63 jerseys will be worn for years at Panther games. If they manage another cup victory, he'll have cup banners in two venues. He'll probably always be known as a "Bruin" and in his heart their captain but maybe he will wear a Panther t-shirt under his black and gold jersey. What a great story this can be. Fingers crossed.

The Leafs are a good team with a much better defensive system and players than years prior. Their offense is their offense, good enough in the playoffs it seems.

Anyone telling you the Leafs don't make them nervous is just playing tough guy. You were the Atlantic champs for a reason. They do seem like a different team this year. There's a lot that makes me nervous, Stolarz is solid and can steal a couple games, the core four can light it up offensively and there's depth now.

This is not going to be the cakewalk series some posters think it will be. I am legit nervous going into this one but I have faith in the Cats to win a battle of attrition over anyone in this league.
I get your concerns. My main worry is also Stolarz. We've dealt with high calibre goalie before (Shesterkin, Swayman). But the team in front of Stolarz is probably better than it was for either of those goalies. (NYR is arguable).

I'm also not really worried about the leafs star players, but barkv bettr show up invisibl fxck

Leafs are playing a Low Event Hockey.

They are deploying a different type of playstyle, one that seems to bogged them down a bit during pretty critical parts of the game, if you watched their games vs Ottawa, you can see how at times Ottawa looked like a better team and it seemed things were about to break on their favor.

We played against high energy superstars like MC David, Draisaitl, and Hyman, none of the Leafs offense measures up to these players, in the way that they hassle and go after their puck, Leafs offense have high skills accompanied with a high degree of finesse.

This is where I bring in Kutcherov, Point and Guentzle, these are within the same realm, and we were able to stop them in their tracks.

The Leafs to me is the least physical offensive forwards we are about the see, our game style is designed precisely for this type of players, we will frustrate them physically and they will have to look for answers somewhere else.

The Leafs advantages are in the small spaces, crowding the front of the net, in games with Ottawa, I watched the Ottawa defenders unable to move them out the front of the net or pay less attention to those details, we got the horses to stop them from doing that. Jones, Mikola, Ekblad, Forsling, Kulikov, etc.

We will see OEL in couple of fights, and being physical all the way, I noticed him in the Ottawa series, he was a bit like Tkatchuck, over the top on being physical and he ended it many times in the penalty box because of it.

I can see the score being low on both sides and if the leafs stay with playing a low event type hockey, I like our chances very much, we are structural design for that type of hockey. specially now, that we have noticed the Panthers playing an even more responsible game with less penalties.

As the last round, it is important to steal at least 1 game, preferably the first game, until Ekblad returns, winning the first game will crush the spirit of the center of the universe, The Maple Leafs.

I am expecting to see the goals to come from everywhere, in a distributed manner, that was what kept Tampa out of balance, we need to use the same recipe.

I do not foresee any changes in the line up or changes in the deployed strategy, we are playing a very similar team like Tampa, with less physicality.

Do you guys know if the game is going to be on the PantherPlus app? my unscrupulous back alley connection from Guatemala, is not showing it in the schedule.

I am still living in a reality that I badly want a cup because of Marchand and it makes me feel weird
I want Marchand to score the cup winning goal because it would make the Panthers so hated.

Flames fan here, but I'm just wondering about Tkachuk.

How has he looked right now? He had 2 goals in game 1 vs Tampa followed by a suspension

Is he alright? Should 2023 playoff Tkachuk be back in form or somewhat expected?

Thanks

He wasn't suspended, and he is clearly hurt, but Chucky is a warrior and will play until he can't.
