Chucky is fine

Chucky is fine...

Panthers PK last year from round 1 to end of round 4: 66 for 75 [88%]

That's against TB, BOS, NYR and EDM

They just went 16/18 vs TB in round 1 this year.

Tell me how Toronto is gonna throw something so different at Florida it will tilt the scales that much?

The silver lining of the cons is that
- Matthews more blaah
- Tkachuk at 50% > Domi at 100%
- Their 4th is worse
- Matthews is definitely more blaah. It's like he traded 50% of his O to be 10% better on D.
- Half a Chucky destroys a healthy Domi EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.
- Leafs 4th line is actually VERY good. No puck luck but winning draws and consistently moving the play forward.

Bob both scares me and gives me hope. He can be the best goalie in the world then absolutely fall off a cliff, it's weird. I still listen to that Bobrovsky punk rock song 😂

What worries me more than anything from the Cats is that D core. Ekblad ya, Jones alright, but then it's Forsling and by then I'm like "you kidding me?". And Miko is no slouch. Schmit can step up. You're solid back there.

Also Marchy basically guarantees a Leafs L if he averages more than 15min per game in the series. He just does. FML haha.

In all seriousness (here come the flaming dog$hit bags lol) Is there anything from the Leafs makes y'all nervous at all?

Genuinely Stolarz

Leafs have better sniping than we do and If Stolarz is hot it’s GG

Jokes aside, the Leafs top two lines have the talent to beat our top two - particularly with Tkachuk still injured. So if the "Core 4" genuinely find their mojo and finally manage to superstar, they could overwhelm the advantage we have in depth. Obviously, we're hoping that we are able to shut them down and, to be brutally frank, history has been on our side here :D . But that's not to say it couldn't happen, and I imagine is the main route to success for the Leafs.

What I'm more concerned about, however, is not so much what the Leafs can do, but us not playing our game for whatever reason: be it brain farts, injuries, or just simply not showing up. This is a series that we really should win but we've seen in the past that our team have games where we just shit the bag. We've been lucky in the last couple of years that we've still somehow managed to luck into winning anyway, but could do with less of the Cardiac Cats...

That said, this team has earned a certain amount of faith from us so still (cautiously) optimistic. The main thing I hate is us being the favourites - that always makes me nervous!

The Leafs are a good team with a much better defensive system and players than years prior. Their offense is their offense, good enough in the playoffs it seems.

Anyone telling you the Leafs don't make them nervous is just playing tough guy. You were the Atlantic champs for a reason. They do seem like a different team this year. There's a lot that makes me nervous, Stolarz is solid and can steal a couple games, the core four can light it up offensively and there's depth now.

This is not going to be the cakewalk series some posters think it will be. I am legit nervous going into this one but I have faith in the Cats to win a battle of attrition over anyone in this league.

@Chaos2k7 keep an eye on this non believer.

We just beat a better offensive and defensive team in TB, with a pedigree of winning.

Could Toronto beat us, sure? I just don't think they will. We will see how different they are very early in the series.

Matthews and Marner and Knies and Nylander may get a highlight reel goal each, but if they do, they’ll be that much of a target of physical play (aka bullying in Toronno). That’ll then be the end of their showboating and Toronno will need to be carried by Tavares, Domi, OEL and Stoli. We don’t suffer from the same no-touch requirements.

It's the playoffs. It's hockey. Toronto has a chance to win, but so do the Panthers.
I feel confident that the Panthers can win this series, but also know bounces and hot goalies can decide series as well.

It's a 7 game series, Panthers got plenty of chances to show that they are the better team, 60 minutes at a time.

The Leafs are trying to be what the Panthers are already. Except we're better at being the Panthers than the Leafs are, simple as that. It's hockey and any random shit can happen but we are absolutely the favorites in this series for good reason.

Not saying they aren't a good team, they won the Atlantic, but basically like that article in The Athletic, Panthers are a bit better in every way on paper and they've been doing this longer.

Top three forwards, Leafs have more offense, but we have more defense. Tkachuk is hurt, but so is Matthews. So call it even. The tier 2 forwards, there's no contest. Leafs have Tavares, Knies, McMann and Domi vs. Panthers with Bennett, Verhaeghe, Marchand, Lundell. Nobody in their right mind would say the Leafs have the edge there. The rest of the forwards, its all on the margins by this point, but I'd say both teams are comparable. So at forward, our middle depth wins out.

Defense, the Leafs have solid pairs now, but it feels more like three mid-pairs vs. Panthers have two borderline top pairs (with Ekblad healthy) and a solid third pair. So I'd say edge goes to Panthers.

In goal, Stolarz has been great and I think he's a good goalie, could steal the series if he's hot. But Bob is a future HoFer, the more proven winner and has been great for two deep runs. Again, edge to Panthers.

Even on the coaching front, Berube's a good coach. Almost feels very similar mindset to Maurice. But Maurice is an all-timer and future HoFer who's coached more games than Berube has coached and played combined.

So on paper we are the favorites. Anything can happen, but I think its absolutely fair to be confident going into this series.

You’re giving the edge to Panthers without having to bring up Barkov.
