To me it’s not about Erod, even if I find him less effective this year…

It’s more about, maybe dumping his salary gives us a chance to keep Marchand, Ekblad AND Bennett… And that I wouldn’t rule out, even if Stonehandes is a great piece too.

Just think that Marchand at 3 years and 5M could be a better investment than Rodrigues at 2 years and 3M that’s all.

There is no chance they are keeping all three players. Also, I'm really not sure they WANT to keep Ekblad.

Tkachuk will be on LTIR to start the year, that's almost guaranteed. We'll be able to keep them all

Maybe I'm not as "big of a fan" as others, but everyone gets a pass this year from me. It sucks Bob is laying an egg, ERod is playing Ringette half the time, 23 can't hit the net, Tkachuk has no legs, Kulikov is a disaster, etc. But I just can't be mad. We won last year, I never thought we'd win.

It’s not so much that we wouldn’t repeat, but that we’d potentially be eliminated by the Leafs, AKA the most insufferable fanbase in all of sports.

Mackie produced same amount of goals and 1 point shy of ERod while playing 10 less games and averaging 2 mins less per game. I will give ERod credit for being durable, playing all 82 this year.

Samo had less penalties [12 PIMS to ERods 38]
Samo had more PP points, more hits, more blocked shots, less giveaways and brings a ton of speed this team is starting to lack.

Tkachuk will be on LTIR to start the year, that's almost guaranteed. We'll be able to keep them all

I understand we all get attached to players but Samoskevich has earned a bigger role on this team and ERod is versatile and can play on any line but the possible difference in $1.5 to 1.8 million from Samos new deal vs Erods can be spent on attracting a better backup goalie.

I'm sure Zito will make the right moves and Tkachuk LTIR makes sense but for me, Bennett and Marchand are the key guys to sign along with a 1 yr bridge for Samo.

Trading ERod and using that money and cap on a better back up is not slandering #17 in any way. He's been decent but we also need to promote/graduate some prospects IMO and pay more important players.

Benny leads the team with nearly 5 per game since round 1 but Vershitter is 3rd in the same time frame but he leads the Panthers with 19 in the 3 games vs Toranna.

Not saying it can't work but it'll depend on what grade of strain or tear Tkachuk is dealing with.
I don't think he's out there with a completely torn groin [grade 3] but that is worse case scenario and they say it's typically 4-5 months recovery time.

If Tkachuk doesn't wait and gets it in June, that only takes him out until October. Training on and off the ice would push him back to December or January at most?

Not sure he would actively sit on the sidelines until after trade deadline.

Grade 1 tear is a month or more
Grade 2 is a 2-3 months.

We all should and do trust in Zito though, just more mean if there is a cap crunch, ERod is going to be considered expendable IMO.
