Series Talk: ECSFs Discussion - All The Smoke Edition - Panthers Tied 3-3

Paul said it post-game. He thought the margin was much closer in game 5 than the scoreboard showed.

They called you thugs, dirty, cheap-shot artists, illegitimate, frauds and borderline criminals.

You had them, in their building, defeated, humiliated and being booed by their fans and what do you do? As a group, you roll over and like bitches; let them rub your bellies.

I’m so tired of hearing about “flipping the switch”.
Bull.
Good teams flip switches, great teams slam into overdrive.
We all were warned about expecting the “push” for the first ten minutes of the game. We spotted them two periods and NOT one guy in that room could step up and motivate the group.

If we lose this series, any of them who want to walk for a payday, can go. Good riddance.

I agree, may not be popular, but this team has an opportunity that doesn’t come up often. Win lots of cups in a short time. They have 4-5 years and then the core will be old like the penguins. Do they want to waste it now that they got one cup already or do they want to put their stamp on the hockey world? Their choice, but the RIGHT idea is to work now and rest later. The years go by quick. Anyone here with adult children or even grandkids knows this intimately. General advice: don’t waste it. Specific advice: don’t give it up to Matthews and Marner. Don’t. Let. Them. Take. It.

In all fairness the whole series the Leafs have been winning the faceoff battle.
And blocking shots.

This last game we just never seemed to get to the rebounds on time. Our home ice honestly looks like it’s being laid by an amateur crew. Pucks have been taking wacky bounces all series long on our ice. It’s been so shitty. Credit to the Leafs though , they were amazing on placing their sticks to interrupt or break up plays. They parked the bus well in front of Woll and took up time and space.

But we still had our looks and we just missed every single time. Off the top I know Luo had wide open lane and shot it to the sky. At the end Carter had a wide open net. It just wasn’t our night, it felt off all game even though I feel we still controlled the game. Didn’t help that our PP was completely atrocious and Bob let in a 5 hole stinker. I knew it was over after that.
Toronto also laid the most hits out of any game. I don’t know if we’re just running out of gas or what but we have to match that intensity. It’s usually our game.

Toronto is already saying they’re going to war tomorrow. Our guys better wake the f up and show the heart of champions. We have to have this game. I don’t care if we lose in ECF. Just beat the Leafs and I’m happy with this season which I’ve always thought was a transition year anyway.

Honestly this team is up against it. That’s a shit ton of mileage

It’s unfortunate Lousty got hurt in 2023. Would have loved to see a better fight against Vegas

2nd round
Final
Final
Finland games
Dummy 4 world bs
2nd round

Then projecting out we got that dummy Winter Olympics

That’s a lot of extra stuff outside a normal 82 games. They won’t admit it, but that’s exhausting

This team most likely has a lot of mileage on them. So you can't really blame them if they lose.

But has Tkachuk been his usual self ever since the broken sternum 2 years ago?

Shouldn't have of yall be worried?

Yes, I know. That is why I didn't question or respond to that point.

That’s not the issue currently. That sternum isn’t really a factor. Hell, they won a cup through that

What’s bothering him is the injury from 4 nations. It’s an injury that requires 4-6 months of recover and he’s playing through it doing more harm than any good

It was 0-0 in the third, we simply didn't bury our chances.

that was the first time in the series they really circled the wagons and packed the middle, trying to win 1-0. we had guys going net-front but couldn't get pucks there. that's probably what they'll try to do again.

they need to take all the lessons learned so far in this series and make sure we're skating hard and getting pucks to the net quickly as well if it ends up being a lockdown type game.

feels like a 50/50 game. need to be working hard to get that bounce.
