I believe this to be the case.

Like I said in the GDT, last night was the first time I saw the Panthers look like the Panthers. Good flow in the offensive zone, sustained pressure and everyone moving as a unit.

Coaching adjustments are good and Bob made saved when needed. It'll be interesting to see how the Leafs counter but I fully expect this team to come out strong on Sunday.

As bad as the Oilers were last year, the stuff I've seen come out of the Leafs camp is so painfully embarrassing. Like truly so uniquely pathetic.

The hate Erod gets around here....

He is what he is. For $3M you got a guy that can play any forward position well enough without giving up much on defense. He'll plug any hole in the line up and often is used as a spark to shake things up like today. He's not a big scorer and he's not fancy but he knows his job and he does it well. Well worth the $3M AAV.

Plus we wouldn't have a Cup without him.

Yeah, you would think Erod was getting paid $7m per season the way some people talk about him around here.

It's about using the cap to pay some bills and we have a glut of forwards.
I prefer Samoskevich in the top 6/9 over Erod. Simple as that.

To me it’s not about Erod, even if I find him less effective this year…

It’s more about, maybe dumping his salary gives us a chance to keep Marchand, Ekblad AND Bennett… And that I wouldn’t rule out, even if Stonehandes is a great piece too.

Just think that Marchand at 3 years and 5M could be a better investment than Rodrigues at 2 years and 3M that’s all.

Maybe I'm not as "big of a fan" as others, but everyone gets a pass this year from me. It sucks Bob is laying an egg, ERod is playing Ringette half the time, 23 can't hit the net, Tkachuk has no legs, Kulikov is a disaster, etc. But I just can't be mad. We won last year, I never thought we'd win.
