I cant believe they did the leafiest thing possible... why not just lose it in 6 so they didnt have to give people hope first. If this was a soap opera people would be upset that the writing was so repetitive and uncreative. Anyone blaming the GM or the coach or Stolarz getting hurt... its clearly the core 4, its the one variable thats been there this whole time.

Break it up finally. You can get value for some guys, you have capspace to build around what you have. Dont even need to do a full rebuild, just have to get rid of some losers (Marner is number 1 on that list, dont even think about resigning him, maybe try to trade his rights for a low pick so you dont get nothing).

I said before the game that its one thing if the Leafs lose a close game 7 and that its quite another if they lose in a blowout and of course they choose to lose big time. How much more does this hurt that the Leafs get KO'd the F**K out YET AGAIN in game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs??

At least the Jets made it respectable by getting knocked out in a one goal OT game rather than fighting so hard to win game 6 only to lay the mother of all stinkers in game 7.

Insane take. This is a core that cannot win it all, and is already getting old.

Their defense is almost entirely over 30, with several over 34. Their forwards have no depth, and their stars aren’t good enough. They have Will who is a potentially decent starter but hasn’t shown it. They have no first round picks for the next three drafts, and no prospects.

If the idea was to spend everything to not make a final, no, that is not something I’d trade half the situations in the league for.
