Can someone explain the offside loophole to me? I don't think TNT did a good job

Offside only gets called once the puck is touched. The fact that Jones never touched the puck while his teammate was still offside, and then before Jones backfoot crosses the blue line, his teammate managed to make it out of the zone.

I only saw one replay, and even considering what I described above it looked really close, surprised they didn't challenge
