This all started because he wanted to be "THE GUY" who got the home town kid to play for the leafs.

Signing John Tavares set the bar for the contracts of matthews, marner and nylander.

They had Kadri on a sweetheart deal and through all that shit away.

And that seal brought in two players they didn't really need.
