Why is it so important to determine which team "Chokes"? Why the melodrama?

We've arrive at game-7 of a back-and-forth series, where Toronto had the momentum before Florida took it, followed by Toronto grabbing it back again. Unless tonight is a blowout, we've move beyond 'choke'. It's now a close series where one team will "Lose" without necessarily "Choking".

It feels like the short term issues for the Leafs are magnified because of the lack of overall success with this core. They need to make the Eastern Final just to get a passing grade, and words like "choke" are used with the history of the team in mind. It's really not fair but this is the cost of a lack of success for all these years

Agree completely that was the original point I was trying to make. Not every loss is a choke.

Isn't calling it a "Choke" the opposite of an excuse? Excuses are intended to soften the blow when a team loses. Calling it a choke is opening the wound and pouring salt in it.

I know some people find the 'choke' tagline fun. Personally, I'd rather enjoy the game for what it is, rather than what it isn't.

Toronto will finally win that elusive Game 7. I think Florida is gassed. Back to back playoff runs will do that.

The one regret the Leafs will have is not finishing off the Sens or Panthers sooner. The extra milage and games will probably screw them over in the ECF or SCF.
