Take the f***ing fine and be honest. This is gutless.
He can't because it shines a bad light on this bush league. Same reason why sportnet turns the camera away from scrums, cuts to a commercial when a play is being reviewed.
I was kinda OK with marchand getting the bad end of a borderline check against a different rat. HOWEVER they didn't show the board-side footage which shows the punch in the face. Sure the bench didn't do anything. Maybe Marchand was too dazed to know exactly what happened, or didn't want to spend time in the dark room?? Regardless they had end board footage, and possibly near board. A whole lot of CYA going on. SN agreement with the NHL is suspect and it says a lot to me in how they cover the games.
I'm not saying the games are fixed, or the league might be. However there are ways to change momentum in a game. Might not be for this team to win, but maybe to get an extra game at home. Maybe that team is established and if going out a game earlier allows a team some recovery time in a lesser market, so be it. In our current example, bruins are closer to no mans land like 1998-2021 habs than to a rebuild or contender. So if they go out early...meh they weren't built for the playoffs or whatever. Goalie couldn't do it by himself was always the habs.
League is about expanding the market of the league vs other leagues, but mainly the NBA. Doesn't mean you throw games, but you can have some influence on them. If Bruins made it through those penalties and tie the series, it makes a game 7 so much better, with all the shinanigans in the backdrop.
I am cheering against the bruins, but it has been a very entertaining series, Same goes for the NYR-CAR, where I am cheering on the Canes. Hate they are down 3-1, but its been a great ride. Even letting some BS call through and letting blatant stuff slide is all about "showmanship" and it gets rivalries and hatred going along with the media coverage it entail.
You have to look at the big picture. Its not about the bruins being kicked by the league square in the nuts, its about making a struggling market relevant instead of having them move north once again. Notice they didn't send Arizona to Quebec, Hartford, or Portland, but to UTAH??? Of all places?
