Too bad we didn't try for Tkachuk last off season before trade with Florida.. Nylander and Sandin probably would have got it done
 
Time for him to step up.

JT's offense is like an investment. You have to invest in so many of his terrible offense-killing plays before he finally scores something later on.
 
Wish we had the opposite angle of that takedown Bennett did on Knies. Even without it it’s fairly obvious Bennett slammed Knies’ head into the ice, that should be a suspension but I’m sure Parros will only be too happy to look the other way.

Also if that had been a Leaf doing that to a Panther I’m sure Sportsnet would be speculating on supplemental discipline. I doubt they’ll say anything about it though.

Sammy at a solid -3.5 goals saved above expected in 7.67 games. But because he shut it down in the second half of game 3 and played well in game 6 people will bend over backwards to defend him.

He hasn’t been good.

Tavares needs to be in the third line.

Problem solved. Top lines are too fast for him.

He’s tough but Florida is tough and fast.

Doesn’t help that after that is nj or canes.

Because they can spin it as "we've improved, and in seven more years we'll reach round 3!"

The leafs management group doesn't view a first/second round exit as a complete failure. They'll toss a few quotes for the media to chew on and go on vacation.
 
Bright side they're only down 1. They also were the better team besides the first 5 mins of that period. Nylander looks great, and Matthews is *this close*. Rielly and Schenn keep being great. Still haven't minded the 4th line.

Not bright side, Tavares and Nylander still play too much together and Tavares had a rough period besides almost burying a gimme. Liljegren and Gio are a complete mess. Marner had a meh period after an incredible first. Losing Knies sucks. Sammy HAS to have the 2nd one.

He doesn't have any traits that would make him a successful playoff player. He keeps getting stripped of the puck because he's slow and the opposition catches him from behind. Nylander looks dangerous because of his elite skating.

Marner/Matthews were great in the first, easily the best line, but were clearly running out of gas late into the 2nd
