horrilbe game. Washington zero effort and Carolina can't score like always. pathetic

These game 1s when both teams have been off forever are usually not good. I would not be surprised if Dallas/Winnipeg since the two teams turned around fast is the best game 1

Another year of the Canes dominating the Corsi battle but losing the actual games.

Games not over and can flip quick. But Caps seem perfectly content to let them fling stuff to the net and pounce on opportunities. ESPN keeps throwing that “offensive zone time” counter onto the screen while the Caps just keep shredding them on the counter.

That only works as long as Thompson is steady though. Well that and the Caps starting to actually finish some more of these high danger chances they’ve been creating. Lack of finishing kept the Montreal series close too. Margin for error is a lot smaller against the Canes.

Has anyone wondered why the league never considered goalies giving fake icing signals to the inbound skaters is not an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty? It seems to me it can result in players getting hurt as you're more likely to chase hard in that circumstance

Shredding? Dude, the Caps have one goal and have no real chances in the last period.

My biggest takeaway so far. Ytf won’t the linesman just drop the damn puck

There's a faceoff violation of some kind on pretty much every faceoff (if not the center himself, then at least one of his four teammates commits some kind of encroachment). I wish they'd clean it up somehow, but one year they cracked down on double faceoff violations and it was hugely unpopular.

Until then... whatever I guess. I'll never blame a linesman for not "just dropping the puck" though.
