Maybe it's just from playing Yu-Gi-Oh for 20+ years but Magic sounded like quantum physics when my friend tried to get me into it.

Yeah, I've seen people that play other card games (e.g. Hearthstone) say the same, that Magic was much easier to pick up and learn. I think it's because individual cards in Yu-Gi-Oh have so much text, and perform so many different functions, and can be played at anytime, that it can be a bit overwhelming.

Could also be because the Magic Arena tutorial is top notch, and the Yu-Gi-Oh version of that kind of throws players into the fray a bit more.
