I put it on pause and go have an intermission smoke. I’ll refrain from ragging on them all, but it’s all pretty useless stuff. Besides highlights of other games or any injury updates from the ongoing game, it’s easily skipped. Have a couple more puffs and then I can also skip past the commercials when the game resumes. Winner Winner.
Eh that's a funny way of saying "bring in the pacifiers and rub the fans' backs" like immediately after the last game, but anyone complaining about the obvious bias towards the leafs just doesn't understand basic economics. They're the largest market in the country, so yeah they're going to hear sweet nothings on the regular. Most of the time the paneling saying "The Leafs are playing well" or "doing good things" is seen as homer takes. Meanwhile it is ignored when they lose the same panels are roasting the shit out of them and their players.
Well, a few weeks ago MLSE announced a 30% increase on some ticket prices for next year. Pretty sure that is slightly higher than the current inflation rate. I know a family who has had tickets for 30 years who can simply no longer afford to front the cost so they are giving them up. Those tickets will likely go to a corp who hands them over to their clients who likely don't really care.wow
TSN just said TO's building is not a rocking building ....lol
Chicken or the egg a bit here? If the Leafs weren’t shoved in their face every time they turn something on, would the hate become so fervent?Well let's see we have a Matthews is over rated thread on this and the NHL forum, this is the only series on part 2 with 90% of the comments in the last 5 days coming from non Leaf fans piling on.
You guys can't get enough of the Leafs so why would they not run them front page? Easiest money ever. When they win, Leaf fans eat it up. When they lose, people like yourself do.
I might’ve said “Merci tres peu”, just for gigglesI think "merci" is the way you want to say thank you here."Merci beaucoup" if you want to be extra polite.

"There's a leaf fan born every minute."

I can see someone start out pretty ambivalent and eventually they’re in full on F the Leafs! mode

French class was so long ago.
Leafs win game 5 in OT.
I think that will be game 6. I think the Leafs outright win game tonight 4-1.Leafs win game 5 in OT.

Hughes winning a defensive award, is a bigger joke. Congrats on walking the line and doing cross overs in the O zone.Crazy that the Leafs have two Selke level forwards!
Is it Matthews’ or Marner’s’ turn to win it this year?
becuase the fans and media push it so much
dont hear the fans or media on the Jets, not even close.
so put it out there, win the cup every year and have the media push it. fans will get push back
It's plenty loud in the playoffs, but there is no question it doesn't reach Montreal level. I've always felt it's because there is an element of "Euro sports fan obsession" (in a good way) in Montreal that doesn't exist in any Canadian or US city.
I’m just speaking in terms of the national broadcast/coverage- stuff that pisses off fans of other teams because there’s minuscule coverage there compared to the leafs. People like to complain, though.I mean, not every loss is a referendum like social media wants it to be. That is the most annoying part of being a fan online. Losses happen.
When the team really deserves it, the panel roasts them. Shows like overdrive who are mostly Leaf fans, tear a strip off of them when they deserve it. Guys like Steve Dangle rips them apart when they deserve it.
The real problem is, at least how it feels as a Leafs fan, the only acceptable way for a Leafs fan to cheer for their team is to be muted and hate the team and expecting them to blow it. It is not acceptable to say you think they can win a game, a series, a cup. Anything less than hating on the Leafs is considered being a homer.
I maintain I have seen more times than I can count people make up reality to be mad at the Leafs. Just an easy target and gives people a sense of community at this point. But that is why Leaf fans are so obnoxious, get ganged up on by every fan base when we are winning you guys hear it![]()
It's mind-boggling that people don't understand this (or how ratings work). These networks and other news sites all know what drives engagement: Outrage and takes. They'll say whatever gets them eyeballs on their product.
I've never been to a game in Edmonton but it definitely sounds like a very loud building. Of all the NHL buildings I have been in for a game, Montreal is hands down the loudest I've experiencedEdmonton gets just as loud and crazy as MTL during the playoffs.
During the reg season Rogers Place is just okay.
Leafs are going to win tonight. Matthews will dominate the Barkov line.
media every year they are the ones... you just choose not to admit you hear it.Who says win the cup every year? Mostly it is the Leafs are among a group of 7-10 teams who can win. This is what I mean by saying it is considered being a homer and people can stand Leaf fans for saying their team has a chance at winning lol
No, he isntStrange how he’s outscoring Florida 9-3 with having so much trouble getting the puck back. Infact he outscores the opposing team basically every playoffs, not bad for someone usually facing the toughest matchups and having trouble scoring goals
You leave out the part where 90% of the comments are in response to claims AM is some kind of defensive savant. Don't get me wrong, he's a strong defensive player, nice timely take aways, strong on boards. Absoletly a threat with the puck. He isn't tilting the ice though. That's the argument being made. No need to move the goal posts.Well let's see we have a Matthews is over rated thread on this and the NHL forum, this is the only series on part 2 with 90% of the comments in the last 5 days coming from non Leaf fans piling on.
