Like the Panthers started thinking instead of doing last night. Late to everything,
loose pucks, making a pass, taking a shot. Always a heartbeat or two late and everything was off. Late to everything to where they weren’t even hitting anyone, kept getting there too late, or were pulling off to go play it safe some more. Leafs played a strong game and kept them off step all night.
Gonna have to do much better than that Sunday to move on.

what's the Leafs record in Game 7s in the "Core 4" era?

2018: Lost to BOS
2019: Lost to BOS
2021: Lost to MTL
2022: Lost to TB
2024: Lost to BOS

0-5. In 2020, Game Five against CLB was a winner-take-all, so effectively the same thing as a Game Seven, and they lost that one as well.

The odds of a relatively good team having that bad a Game Seven record seem very low. One might be inclined to think they're "due" for a G7 win, but probability doesn't work like that. The previous G7 losses will have no impact on tomorrow's game aside from affecting players' psyches and the application of any lessons learned. Will the Leafs be savvy and avoid mistakes made in the past or will they be nervous and wilt?

“90% of the game is half mental.”

Glad they won last night. They played well and deserved it, but anything other than a win on Sunday and Game 5 will be the defining moment of this era of Leafs hockey. They can play the game of their lives on Sunday, but if they don't win, it won't, and shouldn't, matter to anyone.

I thought going into the playoffs a Florida/Edmonton final was likely with the Oilers winning this time.

But today I'm not sure either the Panthers or the Leafs would get by Carolina. The Canes have been amazingly solid so far, though against pretty lame competition (Capitals would be the biggest chokers in playoff history except for that one time they managed to beat the odds: 15/16 years with Ovi they haven't made it past the 2nd round).

Panthers are overrated and the Leafs make things way too difficult for themselves and have a history of choking themselves, so either one can be beaten by a strong team.

Any case, we'll revisit this discussion after Sunday night regardless how the game turns out.

vs non atlantic team 40-19, 68% of win
vs atlantic team 6-19, 24% of win

I hope I am wrong but it see leafs taking this
Cats gave them life

No one thought (or at least no one you take serious) this was a quick series for either team. End of the day, to get to game 7 you gotta lose 3 games each and there will be stinkers on both sides.

When the Panthers play their best, and when the Leafs play their best these are two very very close teams. I truly think the winner of this series is going to the cup finals, and I hope it is Toronto

Is it too early to call Marchand with the OT winner in game 7?
