Florida 22 scf 5v5, to 21 for Toronto, which isn't great, but one of their better showings relatively in their abysmal series.
My point was there was only a handful of true quality chances . They were paying the price on d/ mostly clean outs

Panthers are held up on this pedestal because of the past two seasons. They are a 98 point team and certainly beatable by any of the remaining teams this year
98 point team that missed Tkachuk ( and to lesser extent Barkov ) and Ekblad for huge chunks of the season and rested Reinhart down the stretch . Many still had them as favorites in the East

Oh they are still a great team but they are not on a different level from the rest. At least thats how I see it.
I think when they are on they are the pretty clear best team . They are like bees . They swarm and are everywhere . Very heavy and opportunistic. With Bob and a solid ( and big ) D corps . I think those elements pose big problems for most if not all teams . A healthy Dallas team ( W Heiskanen) would potentially give me pause . I hear you though . On paper they are probably better than last seasons cup winner ( adding Rat boy and Popeye while losing Montour who again missed big time last season ) .

I think these are 2 good teams going at it and may the better team win in game 7.

But Toronto has almost a decade of playoff demons so any adversity is gonna be met with frantic overreactions.

It's funny because I criticized Toronto's forward depth and Scott Laughton had a great game.

Kudos to the Leafs for forcing game 7.................every leaf fan I talked to said they would lose game 6

Game 7's are always great to see........winner takes all.
Leafs might be ready to slay the dragon??

In all honesty, I thought he called a great game earlier in the series. No shenanigans or controversy.

I think his issue was with Keefe and since he's no longer here, seems like he's doing his job ethically.
beyond the most minor penalties called against a team in the entire playoffs in 1 period. sure.. 4 minors in 15 minutes of hockey.

Game 7’s are completely unpredictable. It’s a coin flip and anyone saying anything else is hoping, trolling or bias.

The one thing I like from last night (for the Leafs) is Woll getting some confidence.

Last three games 8 power plays for toronto, 14!!! for Florida

That is DOUBLE

Game Four L0/3 - P 1/6
Game Five: L0/3 - P 1/4
Game Six L 0/2 - P 0/4
Imo the refs manage games with power plays. Clubs with more elite skill will win most games that have a lot of power plays. The more the game is played at even, the more likely it’s closer.

Check your math.

Regardless, blaming refs or PP chances is lame, it's the ebbs and flows of a series. NHL refs aren't going to change.

Were we pouting when PP chances were in the Leafs favour games 1, 2 and 3?

Its amazing how many think winning this game 7 means cup. What nonsense. 🤣. There the well rested Carolina hurricanes who have been at this run at cup for years under rod brind amour . Also there the stars Oilers and jets on the other side . A lot of hopium here.

I thought going into the playoffs a Florida/Edmonton final was likely with the Oilers winning this time.

But today I'm not sure either the Panthers or the Leafs would get by Carolina. The Canes have been amazingly solid so far, though against pretty lame competition (Capitals would be the biggest chokers in playoff history except for that one time they managed to beat the odds: 15/16 years with Ovi they haven't made it past the 2nd round).

Panthers are overrated and the Leafs make things way too difficult for themselves and have a history of choking themselves, so either one can be beaten by a strong team.

Any case, we'll revisit this discussion after Sunday night regardless how the game turns out.

A healthy Panthers team smokes Carolina again imo. Bobrovsky has already proven he can shut out Carolina's low percentage flood. Problem is, they ain't healthy, and probably wouldn't have the gas to break through offensively this time because of it. Hurricanes meanwhile are the healthiest team left, and that's like half of what it takes to win a cup a lot of years.

Leafs I'm not sure. They'd probably struggle with the pace but may also benefit from how clean the Canes are. If Stolarz comes back and can stop all the low-medium danger chances they might be able to do it.

Yeah. FLA is really impressive when they get going on offense. Seems like they always have two at the net while another one finds space to get a shot off. Leafs were lucky last night none of those plays turned into goals.

It's critical for the Leafs (or whatever opponent) to get the puck out deftly as quickly as possible.

Leafs did themselves a faour by winning last night. They started the series showing the critics they are different, slipped up and lost 3 in a row, but came back last night with a shut out to stop the bleeding. They are different than past team, now its just a matter of how different they are. Game 7 will answer that.
