meh I don't think there is anything wrong with the poster asking for specifically AM and MM to lead the charge offensively tonight

Now obviously it would be amazing if Mcmann, Domi, Jarnkrok, and Laughton could score a goal each and we win, but those aren't going to be the guys I hitch my hope wagon on to carry the team to the win.

MM and AM are two guys I, and many fans, can hitch that wagon to and expect a game winning performance.

If the depth shows up, thats awesome, but my hope is that MM and AM are the two guys who come out dominate, and win the game for us

Look at how Berube is using them. Heavy Dzone draws and matching up against other teams #1 lines plus on #1 PK unit.

They may be paid to score, but the coach is using them as a checking line that can win the matchup which they have been doing even if the puck isn't going in as much as we want. Shut down Sens top line and the Panthers top line so far

Barkov struggles to score and generate offence against anyone in the playoffs, Stutzle was new to the playoffs and once he started getting acclimated it didn't look like he was being hindered by matthews and marner too much, moreso by his teammates not finishing on his setups and him being afraid to take the puck to the net with our d around.

for example in 2023 i think he had 3 points in 5 games. He couldn't really do anything offensively against us.

Matthews playing Barkov isn't unusual, any top player that plays florida goes against him. Aho, Kuch, Mcdavid, and many others. He isn't capable of torching players like other stars. So I expect the shutting down part isn't as bad, so that lines focus can also be on finding ways to score

And as some pointed out already - almost every single Western Conference team who made the playoffs this year would kill for the Leafs goaltending situation.
