I think more is being made of the Bruins physicality than there really is.

Yes they have some big players, the myth that these guys push teams around seems larger than it actually is.

Who do we really have to worry about outside of the two obvious guys in Lucic and Chara?

Horton is a big guy but not overtly physical, less so since the Cup concussion.

Thornton? If he's on the ice more than 7-8 minutes a game I like our chances.

Count me as someone wholly un-impressed with the myth of this physically imposing team.

They are not that.

DiPietro always acted like a cocky ***** who thought he was a tough guy, always wanting to fight people (for a goalie anyway) like he thought he was Hextall. Then he finally gets into a fight and one punch from Brent Johnson breaks his face haha
Lol. Always though the same thing. Great to see Johnson land that bomb.

How will Zuccarello survive against Boston, they're gonna crush him like a bug.

He'll be okay

Agreed.

I don't watch all of their games but I watch enough - boyfriend is a B's fan. But I really think there is more hype than truth to their physicality. Its really Lucic and Chara.

Ference would be another one but he is out for the time being.

Physicality really won't be the major factor that it is hyped up to be.

They definitely have a physical/tough-to-play-against group.

Sure, Lucic and Chara lead the way, but then you have the Big-Nosed Rat, McQuaid, Ference, Seidenburg. Saw Peverley pull a nasty slewfoot yesterday. Thornton isn't a pure goon and can hit hard.

Are Bergeron/Seguin/Krejci overly physical? No. But they're still tough to play against. (Krejci in the playoffs, and Bergeron is great)

I think this series is going to be a war.

I mean, it is hockey. Of course it is going to be physical.

I just think people (not saying you specifically to be clear) are making it out to be like a Space Jam match up when it's really not.

I think you're underestimating what kind of goonery Chara and Lucic will get away with.

Possibly.

I think OV will win the goonery award by the end of the playoffs honestly. From what I saw of the B's games, OV was a billion times worse than Looch. He throws 'bows like nobody's business.

Chara can be a goon but i mostly see players try to knock him down and then fall down trying.

They are what they are. I think Brooks hit the nail on the head with his article after last night's game. That was one of the first time's all season where I watched a game and thought that this team really reminded me of last year's club. Torts even mentioned in the press conference last night when asked about McDonagh and the hit he took...This team knows what they're in for. They know what Lucic and Chara are going to try to do. The key is to stand up for yourselves in an appropriate way and continue to go to the net hard no matter what. Zuccarello might get thrown half way across the ice if he tries to screen Rask with Chara on the ice, but we've seen the kid is tough as nails and will get right back up. Their toughness will be there. The key for us is to be resilient and press through it. You can't let it get to you and stop you from going to the dirty areas. That's when they win. I liked what I saw from this team the last few games against the Capitals. They're playing a grittier game. I don't think we're going to let it bother us.

Yeah, but there are teams like Montreal, and then there are teams like Boston. We definitely need at least Clowe for this series.

Bruins turn up the goonery in the playoffs. They seem to know just where the line is with the refs.

But yeah, Ovy went full goon yesterday.

The Bruins have to, once again, turn to Providence for some potential help on the blue line.

B’s general manager Peter Chiarelli met with the media Tuesday afternoon just a little more than 12 hours after his team knocked out the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 7 of their first-round series. As the Bruins shift their attention from the Leafs toward the New York Rangers, they may be left with a makeshift defensive corps.

That’s because Dennis Seidenberg left the game in the first period after just two shifts. The veteran defenseman played just 37 seconds, and last touched the ice just 1:44 into the game. Chiarelli admitted Tuesday that Seidenberg was injured, but the extent of the injury was not known — or not revealed.

Chiarelli also admitted that veteran defenseman Wade Redden is still banged up, and that if there was a game Tuesday night, Redden would not be in the lineup. He didn’t play in Game 7, either.

Ference on crutches, walking boot covering left foot. So there's that.

http://bigbadblog.weei.com/sports/boston/hockey/bruins/2013/05/13/andrew-ference-out-for-game-7/

High ankle sprain? Broken bone? Brandon Dubinsky had the crutches and walking boot look last spring. High ankle sprain for Brandon. Walking boots are used for stress fractures, severe ankle sprains and broken bones.

Lived up in the New England area last year so of course I was always surrounded by Bruins fans.... A few words about them: I ****ing hate them. They're clueless. (At least the ones I came in contact with.) Doesn't seem like alot of people around here hate their fans but I most certainly do.

I was talking about McDonagh and they go, "wait who?" "he's a noname scrub I've never heard of him and I would have if he was good" (These people follow hockey religiously, no kidding). But yet Ference Seidenberg and McQuaid are all first pairing defensemen. "The rangers stand no chance." "Stepan is overrated. Seguin is better than any Rangers forward." Boy you should have seen my face when we beat them 2 out of 3 times. They never heard the end of it.

Kill them. Let Lucic take his penalties. Although I know it won't happen, I want them to sweep in a decisive fashion.

Let's go rangers!

1-0 games? No way.

Henrik is much better than Rask. Rask is more prone to being a head case than Henrik. Henrik has occasional bad games every series too.

I belive Henrik to be very much an elite goalie, but he is not "much better" than Rask. Rask has posted some very very impressive numbers the past few years and is a key reason why Toronto didn't run away with this series. If you look at all the stats this year, there is a strong argument to be made that Rask should have been among the Vezina candidate. The Rangers may have the goaltending edge, but only by a hair.

Careful not to judge the whole fanbase because of a few bad seeds. How would you feel if people judged all Rangers fans based on me?

I am with you here. I live in New England, only about a half hour away from Boston and a lot of Bruins fans are insufferable. My close friends who are Bruins fans are very knowledgable and if they aren't they don't act like they are. Most of them think the Rangers will win this series. Other than them, I can't stand most Bruins fans.

When Jagr got traded to Boston a lot of Bruins fans I go to school with were saying, "He's so old and sucks now! He's only got like 14 goals LOL!".

99% of Bruns fans I have encountered think Lucic will fight his way to a cup for them. "OMGZ LOOOCIC is SO tough. He LIKE DESTROY ANYBUDY in the Nhl!!! ARGH!! FISTS!!! FIGTING TOUGH! DUH!"

I really don't want to have hear from all my college friends from Boston about "how wicked great the fackin' Broons are, dood."

Please win this series.

How will Zuccarello survive against Boston, they're gonna crush him like a bug.

Zucc will crosscheck Chara into the Boards and then spear him! Lucic will deffend his captain and Zuke and Lucic will drop the gloves. Zuke spears Lucic.
This will happen in game 1.

In game 2 Eminger will score 2 goals. Rangers win 2-0.

In game 3 the Bruins will win 18-2. 7 goals scored by Redden. Bruins win.

In game 4 Eminger will score 2 goals and have an assist. Hes the first star of the game. Rangers win in OT.

In game 5 Hank With the shutout. Richard scores the gwg goal and the rangers win the series 4-1.

So dnt worry. This will happen and nothing can change the future!

If we win one of the first two I think we can take this in 5 or 6.

If we win the first two I think we can sweep with how well we've done on home ice.

I'm REALLY hoping to come out of Boston with a 1-1 split — then they'll have the opportunity to take a 3-1 lead at MSG.

Clowe would be helpful in this series.

If the concussion news is true, that's a big blow to negating Lucic's crap.
