We were a point away from the President's Trophy and went 6 games in the Eastern Conference Finals, and then acquired a winger who scores on average 35 goals a season. I think it was reasonable to have high expectations.

Thats true, although a large reason for that was, IMO, pretty much everyone playing to their max ability, which doesn't happen that often. They then gutted that team, bought in some inferior bottom 6 guys and then the lockout meant there wasn't a preseason for them to gel before peices got traded again.

I had us 5th in the east and lucky to get out if the 2nd round. Sure I'd like to see more fight, but this isn't an unexpected result.
