ECQF Preview: Your New Jersey Devils vs. Carolina Hurricanes - We're Playoff Bound!

You know what grinds my gears?

Max (TNT) recently (right before the playoffs) updated their plans so hockey games are no longer available unless I almost double the cost of the package I use.

ESPN provides their cable service and also their streaming ESPN+ but doesn’t put all programming on both. Why wouldn’t ESPN games be streaming on ESPN+?

Basically I’m blocked out of the 1st round games entirely unless I decide to give these greedy companies more money.

@Richer's Ghost ’s comment on 2000 and 2003 also reminded me of one of the first videos I made which was actually his idea originally if I’m not mistaken. It was a spoof of some car commercial at the time in 2012 with us dreaming of the highlights from the past on the way to our 4th Cup.

Sadly, it still remains the quest. But enjoyable to look back on!

Forgot all about this but I remember it now! lol

I know we’re pretty split between enjoying the ride and being angry for stumbling backwards into the playoffs, but lurking the Rangers board and reading how they would fix the team makes me feel better. Surely we can agree that we’re better off than they are.

I wouldn't boo Hall but I understand why others would, it definitely adds to some juice to the home games especially if something happens in the first 2 games that's deemed dirty/on the edge from Hall's game or he f***ing decides to take Necas's mantle on the dives

I know I'm in the minority but I don't have any ill will towards Hall. He made his demand to win known and it didn't work out. He's an honest guy. Plus the trade tree from dealing him to the Coyotes (RIP) really paid off.

I'm still gonna boo him in Game 3 though, for rivalry's sake.

Booing Hall would be just weird
Yeah I get the ‘we boo guys who leave’ mindset to a degree and he essentially left since he didn’t resign and was traded but it seems a touch petty. And I had no problem booing Zach, who was a bit of a phony about the whole thing, at least Hall wasn’t that and we got stuff back for him. He’s also been largely irrelevant since he left, at least until the first time he makes an impact in this series

Hall was great but how he left, the run up to it, specifically was bad. His attitude was piss poor, complaining about fans in the media (the boos), to the actual ear cupping gesture.

Nico and team have seen a lot worse from the fans during some of the rough spots since then ( think the ducks game before the massive win streak, fire ruff chants, think last season dropping 3-4 goal leads to lose a game with ruff/Green team was mercilessly booed off the ice after periods or game)... Yet since those, every player or coach asked about it said "the fans expect better, they expect wins" or "we understand their frustration" (in particular ruff and Keefe to an extent, and Nico was always saying fans deserve better because they didn't get to play their game well)

Hall was the only asshole in recent memory to make a comment about it

This was a guy who got like 10 breakaways and couldn't score across many games.

F him right now, at least.

To be fair, he got traded right before the Oilers ascended and right after McDavid's rookie year. It would be the equivalent if we traded a top guy if Jack got hurt his rookie year and went on a run afterwards. Do I think the comment he made was unnecessary? Yeah, probably, but we can't be mad at athletes for wearing their hearts on their sleeves and complain they give robotic responses.

Parise was the worst out of the guys who left imo, Kovy retired and probably helped us long term but it was a tough pill to swallow after Parise left and Hall leaving was the right move because we couldn't sink 9-10M on a winger when the rest of the roster was ass. Parise left right after a Cup win after years of bitching about not being on a contender and signed with a team that was the Hawks + Kings chew toy for the next decade.

I think next year for the Canucks is pivotal for Quinn making a decision to stay or leave. And if he leaves, I think it's just as likely that he goes here as it is that he goes to a different team in the East. Of course, the opportunity to play with his brothers is here, but maybe he's the kind of guy who wants to compete against them instead.

Hope he comes to us, though.

it would figure out luck that the one time we get a chance to lure a brother to play with family the guy doesnt want to. i dont believe that though and can really see him being out by the deadline next year if the canucks aren't pushing for a playoff spot. the allure to play with his brothers and in theory be competing for more then just a playoff spot too good to pass up.

i wouldn't boo hall at all unless he did something stupid and cheap on the ice. the guy was a gamer for us and won the freaking nhl mvp! never did i think a devil would win that and still dont see a devil winning that.

i wouldn't have booed kovy either

i would have 100000000000% booed zach glad he never got a cup.

I mean, Hall's choice to sign in late 2020, after he spent the previous offseason talking about wanting to play for a contender, was... Buffalo.

Still, I wasn't mad about that. I thought it was really funny, and it showed me that he's not very smart. I was mad when he got shipped off to the Bruins less than a year later, though.

I'll still be mad, but that is a fair point!

Gotta pace yourself. Lots of booing to do over four 7 game series

DO they still have that jerk who ripped off Sieges helmet with no call that forced sieges to leave the playing area and then they scored on an easy play because we went a man down in coverage.

Martinook or was that someone else..

... and his buyout is finally paid off
