A pretty good example right here of what myself (and others) are talking about. You posted a fact initially, very good work! Hard to ignore. Carolina is a great home team, and will be tough to beat there.

Someone else responded with another fact, that Carolina is a bad road team....and your response to that was "YEAH WELL THE DEVILS STILL STINK!"

how do you debate/discuss the team with someone like this?

Also, our record against Carolina this season was also split, I don't understand why people are thinking we are going to get dropped so quickly.

Ok no Jack, but the team has figured out adjustments and play without him. Not great situation, but they have churned out some nice games without him. No Sieges but Dumolin has filled in pretty nicely, slightly worse defense but more offensive pop than Sieges.

Question for me is how our depth will be. Will Haula rise to the occasion (he has been playing nicely the last 2 weeks), will palat play and will he find that gear. Will Mercer keep up the scoring?

Goaltending will be a driver too.

How is it we have to wait another day for the full playoff schedule when every matchup is already set in stone?

It's coming at some point today - would expect it by early afternoon.

Surely they had a good idea heading into last night's games how the schedule would look if Montreal clinched. Maybe it's a matter of signing some contracts this morning to lock in the dates across all the various venues before making an official announcement.

i'd love to win a playoff round more than anyone, but we're going to have to start putting the puck in the net more to do it. 5 on 5 scoring has looked pretty bad for a while now. at this rate, we're going to need our goalies to steal 4 games and i have very little confidence that they (or any goalies in the playoffs) can do that.

Any rumors on the schedule? I want to plan my weekend around the game and I have shit I need to get done.

Edit: Should have looked up. It's ridiculous it's taking this long when we knew the playoff matchups san one team.

Thats my worry. Easter Sunday is an expected family day, where I need to juggle between two families. I want to be able to set the expectation that I won't be available during those 3 hours as early as possible lol.
start dropping hints lol. “Hey babe I heard Jesus was a huge hockey fan and honestly I think he would’ve been okay with a team named after the warden of hell”

This think the biggest driver is that, despite a mediocre record for both teams down the stretch, prior to things being pretty locked in Carolina was on fire and we were crashing and burning. There is an argument there that Carolina has been coasting a lot longer than we have been coasting because their spot has been secure longer. The most recent history of both teams going full tilt, Carolina was showing a lot more than we were. They aren't a world beater, but it is undeniably true that the Devils, even prior to Jack, Seigs and Dougie going down, were falling off a cliff while Carolina was at least staying the course, if unspectacularly.

Our 5v5 Goals For were abysmal this season... bottom of the league at 26th. But if there is a ray of hope our 5v5 Goals Against were top 10 in the league. The differential was just about even. 149 For and 152 Against.

Keep it even 5v5 win the special teams battle at both ends and we could come out ok...that's the game plan anyway?

Who knew that Ottawa had more points than the Devils and they’re tied with Montreal. Maybe they’re playing the last few games with nothing to gain. But they’re not giving me much confidence going into the playoffs. I thought they had a shot at upsetting Carolina. I may have to rethink my initial opinion. This is not how you want to go into the playoffs.

I don't think we have been playing with much intensity since we clinched our matchup. I don't love it either, but think we'll be better than we look.

Yeah, top teams don’t typically have bad stretches but Winnipeg went 8-0 at the end and then went 1-4 vs the Avs in the first round.

And that series wasn’t as close as results suggest. The Jets won the 1st game 7-6 and then it was 8 GF - 24 GA in the following 4 losses.

The Hellebuyck Effect - regular season monster, post season disaster.

I only have one family to deal with, and the time slot should be OK, but with it being a family day it will be tough to lock into the game.

It's very possible Canes were "cruising" for the last 3 weeks or more. I agree with that because although they didn't officially clinch 2nd for a long time, it was implicit that they at worst would only drop to 3rd if they really let things go south.

Kind of interesting, in that in terms of 5v5 Corsi For they were 12th in the league.

18th in terms of fenwick for.

But 25th in terms of shots for.

8th in Scoring Chances for. 18th in HD Chances.

So there is big discrepency between getting shots off, even good shots, and putting those shots on, and into the net.

I am actually hosting family at 1 that day, so if there's a game it will be on, but I don't know how much attention it will get.

Since Jan 1st 29th in 5v5 shots for rate(had to go rate given difference in games played). Tied for 30th, 2nd to last in the league, in goals for rate.

14th in corsi %. 27th in goals for %. 26th in xGF%. Those are some ugly #'s.
