Canes got their asses kicked by three non-playoff teams a week ago. How come no comments about that?

These games mean nothing and drawing any conclusions either way are silly. The players are human...they realize this.
Carolina is an annual playoff team so I get it more from them than a team that's been inconsistent at best since Christmas, and only has a cushion because the rest of the division sucks.

I think we'll beat Boston, maybe even by a lot, if Swayman plays like the chump he's been this season or if Korpisalo plays like Korpisalo. Maybe throw a beatdown after what happened last week.

But I expect we'll probably scratch a decent amount of guys who matter for Wednesday.

I agree with you that these games are basically garbage but it's definitely because Carolina has the benefit of the doubt of being a yearly playoff team.

EDIT: Lol I already got beaten to it

I wouldn't expect much from this year's team. I'd be elated to last 6 games and pretty happy just to not get swept.

Playoffs were the bare minimum for this year and we accomplished that.

meh, I dont really know what past seasons have anything to do with 2025.
If you're a team that makes the playoffs year after year you get the benefit of the doubt more than a team that hasn't.

While I agree these last few games are pretty meaningless, I think it's being a little delusional to think people wouldn't be concerned over the effort in these games given the overall play of the team the last few months.

Canes are literally what this fanbase has been coping with these last 3 games. A team that has nothing to play for. They’re almost a 100 point team, 1 point off. Were a sub 90 point team 1 off from having the same points as the habs, a rebuilding team with a negative goal differential.

The last 4 months of Devils hockey.
Jan 5-5-3
Feb 3-4-0
Before the injuries.

Mostly after injuries
March 8-7-1
April now 1-3

This team has had issues before the heart of the offense went down.

Canes are capable of flipping the switch and have done so over the last month. The devils haven’t shown that in 2 years and haven’t played good hockey in consecutive games in months.

Ahh yeah other teams can flip the switch whenever they want, got it.
lol they’ve been to the playoffs how many years in a row now and won multiple rounds almost every year during that time period. They have a track record, and even accounting for them not being great this regular season, we are 10 points worse than their “not great” so what the hell does that make us?

You cannot compare a perennial playoff winning team having a 100 point “down year” to a 90 point team that hasn’t proven jack shit for two years now and has been playing shit hockey for f***ing months. SMH

Don’t even get me started on these last three shit effort games in front of home fans. They are playing out the string like a team that’s hitting the golf course in a week instead of a team that’s supposed to be trying to put together some consistency and getting ready to face off against a significant favorite in the post-season. Save me the pearl clutching when I say this team as a collective isn’t very likable.

Not to mention Carolina hasn’t struggled for ‘months’ like we have

Somebody posted that it was leaked about the 25th and 27th.

There's some concert on April 26th, so that's definitely out.

The 25th and 27th make sense, but not sure if that was real or someone making it up based on logic.

I guess we could play @ Raleigh on the 20th and 22nd if the series starts on Sunday. With a two day break between games when the series shifts.
Very much hoping it's on Saturday.

I mean ZBC is right to an extent, you can't shit on the Devils and then think the Canes are all that in the second half. That being said, the Devils have only been really good in one month this season, Carolina and Washington slept walked in the second half because of the Devils falling down the standings.

prior years have no bearing on the 2025 playoffs. None.

Let’s take Aho and Slavin and and whoever their offensive defense leader is off the ice and wrench Andersen’s knee and see how it goes for them.

Yelling into the void about a team you know hasn't been good in months is backwards. I've been the main poster along with @Hisch13r who have called this team mid to meh in October. Maybe they simply don't have it this year, learning Keefe's system or just naturally bad due to the depth. It could be any one of those 3, I'm waiting on Fitz maybe falling and hitting his head in the offseason and realizes what made this team great in 22-23. If not, he'll probably be looking for a job after next year.

That being said, let fans of this team enjoy playoffs. We've been here thrice in like 13 years, table the talk until the offseason which will probably be early May. We'll have plenty of time to dissect what went wrong in the dog days of the offseason.

I mean, to be fair, Carolina also lost to some dogshit ass teams when the Metro was still viable to win.

the Devils might get their asses kicked. They might lose a close series. They might win a close series. Nobody really knows what is going to happen.

Carolina is a really bad road team. Their goalie is not good. Their powerplay is not good. They have a ton of flaws just like this iteration of the Devils have. This notion that they are somehow unbeatable is crazy to me, but alas here we are.

How about we see what happens? If they get swept, you guys can "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" all summer I guess.

ya, I mean I've been vocal on what I think about this team but I'll enjoy these games for what they are. It sure as shit beats posting in the OoT about the Rags or Isles every f***ing year.

Some of that has to do with how dogshit the East was this year, specifically the Metro. Always going to be a chance of 7 teams clinching before the final week

Nothing suggest this team can. They’re mentally weak and have too many unskilled slugs on it and in the back end.

They might very well have the least amount of points going into the playoffs after tomorrow night when the Habs finish playing the Hawks.

That’s embarrassing and unacceptable.

I really don't care dude.

Don't watch then, I don't know what to tell you. Getting this upset online about a sports team is not healthy.

We’re a putrid home team. They’re gods at home. We split even with them while fully healthy. We have always matched up poorly against them.
