Meh Leafs only had 2 days off before the series began AND played a B2B against the Panthers and Lightning which resulted in some injuries. Only team in the league to end the year like that. Bruins had scheduling advantages there.

your post is textbook moving the goalposts, we're not discussing how the regular season was scheduled

The mighty, mighty Leafs, they skate down the ice,
In their sacred quest to hoist Lord Stanley's cup;
Powered by forwards Matthews and Knies,
Nothing will get them down, the only way is up.

The crowd in the arena cheers, it's a roll of the dice,
He shoots! He scores! The crowd, it roars!
They repeat this not once, not twice, but thrice!
It's a roster assembled, the stoutest of cores!

It's not battles to be won, these games they are wars,
Led by captain Tavares, and Samsonov the wall,
The fans are loud and rabid, their yells blow off the doors,
Come one and all to the arena, they truly have it all!

The team celebrates, but remember it's done in stages,
But remember this game, as it's one for the ages.

It’s beautiful

Skate on down the rink.

The hot steel thrashing against the frozen water

Swish! There goes Johnny!

He shoots, he scores! 1,2,3 a hat trick for Johnny McVee!

And now he's home with his fam-uh-lee.

Oh I know, neither playoff record is particularly impressive and Montgomery at least has a marginal edge in the regular season (but what good is that).

If Boston loses this series though, I would agree with the earlier poster who indicated that Monty's job wouldn't be in jeopardy. Feel like he's got more runway to work with, but I could be wrong. That switch to Ullmark last game certainly didn't do him any favours.

Keefe, on the other hand, might be out the door if the Leafs can't get it done in this series. He's been around longer but I think this could be it for him.

Do you understand the context of switching to Ullmark? Last season he got slammed for not bringing in Swayman until game 7 when he hadn’t played in weeks. This year slammed for making sure both goalies get some time in. He will ride the hot hand at the end of the series. But he already got burned by letting one of the goalies go cold.

Yeah I get it, keeping the rotation going. But like you said, riding the hot hand was the way to go.

Who cares if Ullmark goes cold, when Swayman's already putting up god-tier numbers against the Leafs this year? Tonight might change that, but just imagine what the atmosphere would've been like had the Leafs gone home down 2-0 instead of tied and now holding home ice advantage. :help:

Dean Evason did the same thing last year with Filip Gustavsson, and it was one of the main reasons Dallas got up off the mat and won the series. Just a stubborn insistence on sticking to a gameplan instead of realizing what he had after Game 1.

The discussion is a potential unfair advantage of the schedule so my post is within context. Bruins have to spend an extra day in the city but got an extra day of rest before game 1.

And the Leafs dealt with the same thing last year in Florida.

unless there was no way to schedule those games differently, he has a point. Within the current structure of higher seed getting rewarded with home ice, you shouldn't be spending an inordinate amount of time in the away team's city or on the road

that said, not only do I think home ice vs away is overrated aside from last change, road games tend to help teams bond and stay focused, clear out the noise. The Bruins specifically being on the road I think will help more than hurt them so Monty should probably just focus on the positive, he should only make gamesmanship comments that can actually have an effect, they're not going to reschedule the games now

You're not spending more time in Toronto unless you want to. The Leafs clearly had to fly into Boston at least the day before the series started. If we're only counting the game days, Montgomery should have just flew the Bruins in today so they could have spent less time in Toronto if he's so afraid.

Not sure what difference that makes unless Nylander is out with food poisoning and Montgomery was hoping for more time for other players to be affected.
