This last play fully illustrates the biggest problem with Nylander:

Yes he floats a lot and avoids contact like the plague for the entirety of the regular season, but those flaws all pale in comparison with:


He doesn't think the game well enough.



The game is about to end, the best goal scorer in a generation makes himself available for a last-second shot on goal and Nylander looks him off for throwing the puck into the crease.



People wonder why he has never broken the 100 point mark despite being clearly the 2nd most gifted player on this team, this is why - he doesn't think the game well enough.
