Nobody expected Florida would take Boston to the ropes for seven games, but this would be a painful way to lose after some great five on five hockey in the first / early second period.

Maybe the officials just aren't good, like they aren't good in every other series?
Then you'd expect them to suck equally on calls/non-calls for both teams. The 3 BOS dives they've rewarded are pretty bad. Bennett was hooked like you read about on a clear scoring chance with no call at all.

This is the definition of a game that the refs decided to take over. All momentum was with Florida. The ref decided to call a clear flop by Bertuzzi. You get a goal then you get Pasternak snapping his head back, another PP goal. The game is completely turned around

Lots of pressure from the Panthers, you think the least the refs could do would be to give the Bruins a PP so they can relax a bit.

Not necessarily. Being inconsistent in that way would be a part of the sucking.

The Bruins collapsing and then needing so much extra help just to get past the Panthers is fairly damning. If they're facing the Leafs in the 2nd round, they'll have a easy path to the ECF but after that, eh.
