I don't know if it's the players or the coach, but when Kreider and Zibanejad are skating like hipless Patrick Kane, it's more than not having the right personnel.
Doesn't help that nobody at any point has thought to teach the two busts to skate.

You mean like last year. So basically, you'd like the Rangers last year or the Devils right now and not next year. Correct?

As much as I hate to say it, I gotta give credit to the Devils defense and goaltending. They made changes and Rangers don't have an answer.

Yes, the Rangers need to play better. This isn't on Igor, you can't win without scoring. Start smashing people, crash the net and move. So many players waiting and being tentative.

Devils made incredibly underrated moves with the D they acquired last year. Their defense prospects pipeline is very good as well. If this Schmid kid is more than a hot goalie at the right time they are going to be a serious contender every year.

Everyone is playing below their potential at 5v5 because they don’t have players to compliment their games. Team full of playmakers can’t do much when there’s no space for them to operate.

Laf, Kakko and Panarin shouldn’t look this bad, but this is what you get when you have redundant instead of complimentary skill sets.
 
I had a feeling this game was going to be a coin flip. Flip in the sense that either team was going to blow the other out. The close tight checking game in a toed series wasn't going to last especially with an early which will quickly make the other team desperate.

For all the diversity this core has gone through, that's 2 games in a row where early goals rocked them. This team is rotten to the core. Igor and Fox are the only untouchables, everyone else has a price.
