I think the leafs have the skill to do the same thing. Marner is a great puck distributor and Matthews is the best goalscorer in the league. They dump and chase on the PP… which is crazy. Why give the other team the chance to win a battle and get the clear??

In theory they should. But also Gulatzan has been working with the Oilers PP for years and constantly evolves it. I don’t think the Leaf’s have that same leadership for their PP.

If I ran the Leafs power play I’d focus on getting the puck to the guy who just scored 69 goals. I mean I know it’s not that simple but he’s your number one weapon. Use him more.

Well that helps for sure, though I still don't think many NHL teams would want to sign Reaves until he's 39. I didn't know you could bury a 35+ contract but I'm not really up on the ins and outs of that stuff.

It's not a question of if but when that happens with Reaves getting sent down.

Usually, you can't, but this one is structured differently.
