2017 ROUND ONE SERIES vs OTTAWA

The Bruins and Senators play game 3 of their Round One series tonight with the series even at 1-1 … Game 4 of this series will be in Boston on Apr. 19 with game 5 in Ottawa on Apr. 21 … If necessary, game 6 will be in Boston on Apr. 23 with game 7 in Ottawa on Apr. 26.

The Bruins enter tonight’s game with a 23-14 series record when tied in a best-of-7 series 1-1 … They are 20-17 all-time in game 3s when even at 1-1 in a best-of-7 series.

Patrice Bergeron (1-1=2) and David Pastrnak (0-2=2) are the only Bruins with points in each of the 2 games of this series so far.

In each of the 1st 2 games of this series, the team that won the game both allowed the first goal and trailed in the third period before
coming back to win.

There has not yet been a first period goal scored in this series.

Drew Stafford is the only current Bruin who has previously faced Ottawa in a playoff series (played one scoreless game while with Buffalo in 2007).

Zdeno Chara played 45 playoff games with Ottawa from the 2002-2006 post-seasons with 3-11=14 totals in those games.

Gm 1, Apr. 12: Bos 2 at Ott 1 … Bobby Ryan opened the series scoring with a 2nd period goal for Ottawa, who held the Bruins withouta shot in that period … The Bruins scored twice in the 3rd for the win, as Frank Vatrano evened the score with his 1st career playoff goal & Brad Marchand netted the GWG with 2:33 remaining in regulation … 8 Bruins made their playoff debuts in the game with Charlie McAvoy playing his 1st career NHL game … Tuukka Rask took the win in goal with Craig Anderson earning the loss … SOG: Bos 25, Ott 27 … PP: 0/4 … PK: 0/2

Gm 2, Apr. 15: Bos 3 at Ott 4/OT … Drew Stafford scored the game’s 1st goal before Clarke MacArthur countered for the Senators …The Bruins opened a 3-1 lead on goals by Tim Schaller (SH) and Patrice Bergeron (PP) but Ottawa came back in the 3rd period on goals 2:20 apart by Chris Wideman and Derick Brassard … Dion Phaneuf ended the game at 1:59 of OT … Tuukka Rask and Craig Anderson again got the decisions in net … SOG: Bos 29, Ott 29 … PP: 1/3 … PK: 1/4

BOSTON vs OTTAWA, LIFETIME SERIES

The Bruins and Senators are meeting for the first time in the playoffs since the Senators began NHL play in 1992 … That leaves 8 teams that Boston has not yet played in the post-season (Anaheim, Arizona, Calgary, Columbus, Minnesota, Nashville, San Jose, Winnipeg).

The Bruins played the original Ottawa Senators in the 1927 Stanley Cup Final, won by Ottawa in four games.

The Bruins and Senators are now even at 1-1 in games and 5-5 in goals all-time in post-season play.

MILESTONES APPROACHING

Patrice Bergeron is three games short of his 100th NHL playoff game.
Dominic Moore is five games short of his 100th NHL playoff game.

The Sens should be worried. They almost lost both games at home to a Boston team decimated by injuries. And now the Bruins will have the home crowd on their side...

Heard Krejci is a game time decision, but it's really looking like he'll play. Same with C. Miller. Having Krejci, Acciari and C. Miller back at least would be HUGE. I thought I heard Carlo was skating too, so he can't be that far out.

Peel is one of those officals who seems to like putting himself in a position to influence a game. Believe there were a dozen or more penalties in the Wash - Leafs game. Tuned in at one point to hear the P by P man say he was calling everything in this one as he sent another player to the box on what might be termed a soft call. Let's hope he is a non factor tonight.

MASH unit will be front and centre for the B's. This group is up to the challenge for facing adversity. No reason to be pestimistic. Leave it all on the ice.

Let's Go Bruins!

I'm more of a "let them play" guy, but with the B's special teams play, a lot of penalties on both sides might not be a bad thing.

no more injuries.

I am not as stressed as usual...not sure if that is a bad or good thing. I guess we will see.
