You sure about that? Example - do you think Jack takes the risk he did on that play if he doesn’t feel like he has to carry this team on his own every single night during a stretch when they are losing every other game?

You don’t think Bratt’s ability to avoid injury has anything to do with his hockey IQ and/or physical conditioning and it’s all just strictly luck?

We have had multiple seasons even going back before last year where this team was playing like dog poo first, then major injuries happened (which has given rise to a separate phenomenon of people blaming injuries for poor seasons that were already going down the shitter beforehand). It’s just a total coincidence that we have had this happening every year for multiple years, except in the season when they started off great and never took a major dip?
Jack was trying to get to a puck in the end of a game and clipped skates with the opposing player. They're competing. Shit happens. I don't think that play changes regardless of their record.

I don't hate what you're saying since every action or lack of action changes the entire outcome. Maybe making a move earlier when the team was struggling doesn't even put Hughes in that situation. Then again, maybe something worse happens. I don't really like the "what if" game since I'm currently still upset over the fact my girlfriend got me off a slot machine to have dinner and when we came back about 90 minutes later it was roped off because someone won $4M. Some things just happen.

Win lose or lose they have to show up tonight with a better effort. Don't lay down at least. if the effort is there and they lose so be it. But play with some pride and dignity. They are fielding a mediocre team in many respects. They only have two viable defense pairs and too many broken down forwards to count. I don't expect a miracle but they can at least be competitive.

they showed up when dallas after jack went down.

I guess I’m just not surprised that we have ridiculous injuries like this. Bad shit tends to happen when the vibe and culture stink. And when you have shit depth, any injury let alone multiple is gonna feel like disaster. It’s a shitty little cycle.

This org badly needs a leadership reset.

No reason for Casey not to be in there. Use him on the 4th line FFS, at least he brings some offense which is severely lacking.
He played forward sometimes at Michigan. Let's be honest, he's not even that good at playing defense so I'm not against this. Playoffs is a tough time to try that though.

I remember many seasons where Malkin Letang and Crosby were in the morgue. It didn’t prohibit them from having healthy seasons and being a contender and winner.

Better stretches will be ahead for NJ in terms of durability, just like we saw in 22-23

The more salient point about those Penguins that you don’t mention is that those teams still had good seasons in spite of their two superstars missing many many games.

Whereas this squad without Jack becomes a lottery team. And he’s not even on the same level as Crosby.

how could the jackets as an 8 seed sweep the #1 bolts a few years back and we are already out of this series?
They had depth, we don’t. They had Foligno, Bjorkstand, Wennberg, Duclair, Dubinsky, Dzingle in their bottom 6.

Why are we asking questions to what we already know?
