Lmao sure buds. That "penalty" on Stutzle was the most laughable boarding call I've seen in years, but yeah, sure, sens were "undisciplined".

Let's see what happens when Sens don't get called every time they sneeze on the Leafs.
So just to get this right, because there was a questionable call on Stutzle that means the Sens didn't play undisciplined hockey. Right on....

Unconscious bias. Whether or not you think you are being unbiased it's not the case. Why are fans of teams so rabid and blaming everyone else. They probably don't even realise what they are doing. Fans and refs alike have them and that causes lots of dispute when people see the same thing in a different light.

Sure. Good point. I just think some people are pretty good at setting aside their bias and just call it objectively regardless of who they want to win. And then others can't for the life of them set aside their bias. Probably harder when you know the people involved personally....but if they're player x and player y and you don't give AF about them personally, then it becomes easier.

Ullmark will bounce back and make a couple big stops but Stolarz is still the bigger story.

Now 9-0-0 and a .948 save % in his last 9 games.

Leafs win a closer one tonight, 4-2.
Agreed. I think all of the remaining games in this series will be closer than game 1, but ultimately Toronto is the better team at this stage. I think the roles will be reversed in a few years. Ottawa's best players are still young and should keep improving, whereas the Leafs have maybe a 3 year window to win before the defense has to be rebuilt.

A lot of teams in the past have counted on game management being a thing...mainly the key pattern that in the end penalties end up pretty damn well close to even in a series. So teams with great special teams will toe over the line, trust their PK to go to work for what they do get called and then get more PP's on the other end. Also they are Florida teams that helps too.

I hate when in the regular season, I felt like Ottawa got jobbed...and then they give them PPs when the game is over. Game management.

Powerplays are 5-0 in favour of team A. They go up 4-0 in the game.

In the last 8 minutes they call 3 penalties on team A to make the penalties 5-3

Often those calls are weak.

Florida gets away with the most penalties, their fans think it's normal to cross check people in the head or slam guys heads into the ice. They've been celebrating Sam Bennett giving Knies a concussion by slamming his head into the ice for like 2 years now

Using them as an example doesn't really help your case lol

Well it was just an example of inconsistencies . That's all.

I think the whole Battle of Ontario thing played into it. Refs were probably told not to let things get out of hand in game 1. Then that leads to the refs being twitchy and quick on the whistle. Even the whole thing with calling the minor a major and then letting the league review was weird.

You're probably right that was a factor!

Leafs can't expect officiating that is as one sided as Saturday every night. Some of the calls were a f***ing joke, especially when you look at the way the other series have been officiated comparatively. This is the playoffs, not f***ing ringuette. Contact is, in fact, allowed. Yes even on the Leafs golden boys. Hopefully the zebras swallow their damn whistles and let the boys play tonight.

Ref set a standard, if a team are unable to adapt to it and just doing the same trash thing ref calling over and over again. It's not the ref the issue.

If they do the same way, they will still goes in penalty boxes because outside the struzle boarding, every other penalty was pretty easy call and would be call again except if the ref missed it and don't see the hit, it's the only reason than those play could be uncall.

Playing physical doesn't mean become stupid

Because it's true. Would have been 2-2 in the 3rd otherwise.
We outscored Ottawa 3-2 5v5. The fact their PK was that bad...against a PP that has historically struggled immensely in the playoffs is a problem for Ottawa. You are going to have to kill penalties at some point and it won't be the refs fault if you are incapable of doing it.

Yeah, it is. It's always a bad take when you say people who believe something you don't, aren't fans.

We're on HFBoards man - this whole place is operates on the notion that fans of different teams have diverse opinions and spend time typing them out.
Why don't you look up the definition of "fan"? Oh my God. Are fanatics centered/ rational people who show no emotion? A fan is fundamentally the opposite of what is being described here. I guess people will argue anything huh?
