If Habs can win game 2, it'll definitely make it more fun in Montreal. But even then, I don't know if anybody is ready for game 3 in Montreal. The players will be in for a surprise. Might be too loud for both teams hahahaha

Ideally, we have Ovy and the gang go to Chez Parée the night before the game.

Got my co-worker/buddy into hockey recently and told him, the Verizon Center is cool and loud for the playoffs and all but wait until you see game 3 in Montreal.

Time for another everywhere cocaine moment like in 2010.

Montreal played a solid game.. You have to believe St Louis will take a hard look at his Newhook, Laine Demidov line. I'll be shocked if that trio play another shift together.

Dog shit icing call

No, it was a dog shit play by Laine - - or maybe chicken shit play is more accurate.

This is the playoffs where everything is infinitely more intense. You’re expected to fight through contact and interference. Laine wouldn’t do that.

The announcers were even calling him out earlier in the game because he didn’t want to hit the Washington defencemen when he had the opportunity.

Same problem as usual for Montreal - - too soft and too small.

...you don't know Marty; he'll leave it together for the entirer Series because he doesn't make adjustments...same reason why Xhekaj will sit again Wednesday despite the fact that the Habs need his physicality in the game and useless Savard out of it...

Hi all, just back from the game.
1. Caps were laying the lumber from the start. Ovechkin obliterated Caufield and that was just one of many hard, clean hits.
2. Habs did not fold. They dominated zone time in period 3 and had the Caps gassed by the last two miniutes. Caps were lucky to get to OT.
3. Carbery must have read the riot act before the OT. Caps had the spring back in their step, and the OVI-Strome-Beauvillier line is working out very well. Not sure where to put Protas when he is ready.

This is gonna be a good series. MTL has some great young players. The MTL fans in the arena were cool to be around and if Caps fans show up at Bell Centre I hope they can represent just as well.

Hockey is fun!!!

This. Its beyond ridiculous. Small peepee energy lvl of saltyness.
Yup. Hutson was fine. Laine was dogging it, and Demidov showed less than I thought he might.

Caufield/Slaf/Suzuki line is sick, however. Carbery had Dubois line on them which mostly worked OK until it didn’t. Will be interesting to see how MSL matches them up in Bell Centre.

Laine was awful.
He has been dogshit for a long time. I defended him most of the season because he was getting it done on the PP but he is a liability every time he's on the ice. I get so frustrated watching his lanky ass lurch around like Frankenstein. Turns the puck over, refuses to engage physically despite being an actual giant. It's to the point where I even hate turtlenecks because of him and it's honestly a shame because my wife looks great in them.

So who won round one? OVI got two goals and an assist and the overtime game winner so …
Ovechkin is an actual legend, one of the best of all time. The best goal scorer that has ever lived. He plays for the best team in the east and was playing the WC2 team, the youngest team in the league. Any game where he doesn't put up that kind of performance is a disappointment.

Can’t blame Montreal on the OT goal. Out of all players, who could imagine the greatest goalscorer in history, left completely unguarded in front of the net, would be a scoring threat?

Regardless of how they decide to alter it- I think tonight made it pretty obvious you can't play Laine and Demidov on the same line. Demidov is far too green and Laine hasn't really played any sort of defense for years at this point. They'll never see the puck if they're on the ice together 5v5.
I'd love to see Heinemann instead of Laine; it would make the bottom 9 more even, make it easier to shield Laine from tougher matchups, and give Demidov a couple of linemates with some measure of hockey sense.
