If only we could have the goalies stand up, wear tiny pads, and flop around the ice again. OV would knock that record out in no time.
Yea but you would have to take everything else too. Style of game(basically takes away ovi's office), equipment, knowledge, training, quality of passes and team mates.

I originally posted it thinking all he needs is 16 playoff goals over 3 years which is totally doable looking at how much he seems to have in him, but yea can't jsut cherry pick one aspect of the game from a different era.

Should not have been an icing but saying that the refs gifted that goal is something that grinds my gears wether its a blown icing, penalty call or whatever. Yeah the refs put the habs in a tough spot there but let's not pretend a d zone draw with guys who were on the ice for a minute is a death sentence.

Refs have been horrible for everyone for years. It's a lame excuse.

Thats fair and true.

But still sting.

Great first game for both teams. Appreciate the Caps physicality to test these Montreal young guns. I think we’ll be in for a treat of a series.

Despite the physicality, Habs still outscored the Capitals and they haven’t done much that recently.

I like the Tom Wilson - Josh Anderson match up. Ovy is incredible, but we can bring it to him.

Congrats to the Caps for the game 1 win, let’s do it again Wednesday!

Also, you know, the kid barely speaks English. People here are acting like Ovechkin punched a hole in the wall and made it his life's mission to make Demidov regret it.
Agreed. Cut the kid some slack. It’s not his native language, just came into the league, Montreal media is probably all over him, and I doubt Ovie cares what a newbie in the league thinks, even if he’s from Russia.

It's the Habs sheltered exploitation line and our worst faceoff guy whose only a part time centre. It was literally our worst possible players to have on at that moment.

Absolutely. Blown defensive coverages led to the goal. The icing led to the goal. We can hold two realities in our minds simultaneously with neither one negating the other.

Gotta do something to take the blame off Hutson

Refs have been horrible for everyone for years. It's a lame excuse.

When Gretzky said and to the refs who make this game great I was like no, we've heard hot mics of them saying "well maybe we call that to even it up" which is literally the worst thing you could be caught saying.

The way the game is officiated needs a major overhaul in terms of consistency and eliminating after the whistle junk that adds no entertainment value.

Dog shit icing call

except is should not have been an icing call and they would not have been in that situation. Hockey is not complicated until the refs make up stuff.
There was shitty calls for both sides that impact the game at a larger scale.

If your whole game came down to an icing call in OT, then that’s on the Habs.

If they turned the puck over on that non-icing and the Habs had a 2-1 and scored the other way, you wouldn’t be whining about an icing call. Therefore you’re only upset about losing, and not the call itself at all.
